Gratitude Love and Mourning

I went for a long bike ride today, 49 miles on a paved, woodland trail...listening to, remembering and mourning Aretha Franklin.

Many of her songs have a 60-70 beat per minute tempo, an easy pace to stay in the pocket peddling, resulting in a ride very much in a flow state.

Getting into Aretha's groove, reflecting back on how much she enriched my life and that of so many others, I certainly left some tears along the trail.

I boosted the Bosch HS to sport most of the way. The Rohloff allowed me to find just the right gear to pedal in rhythm with the songs. Today the Bosch HS/Rohloff most clearly demonstrated what a well balanced and complimentary combo they are together. I made the 49 miles in 2.5 hours and every moment was pure deeply satisfyiing

Today my e-bike gave me a true peak experience

The power of music to touch our lives is endlessly mysterious. For many of us Aretha's songs are part of, but not limited to, the soundtrack of our youth. However, ... her artistry is timeless.

I'm sitting here looking at the picture of your beautiful bicycle and reading your interesting ride evaluation. I've been researching and test riding e-bikes for weeks now and have narrowed it down to yours or the Trek Super Commuter. In almost all respects I prefer yours, but I've ordered the Trek. The local shop owner is a friend, has given me superior service for more than a decade and of course Trek has a larger dealer network.

Still ... both bikes are high quality and if I like the concept of riding an e-bike as much as I suspect I will, I may end up giving the Trek to my wife and buying the Riese and Muller.
