Hi,I finally got my Road E fixed with new EVO display from Giant. I was really nervous because the phone app still wanted to update the firmware, even though the bike shop had installed all the updates they could find with their dealer tool. I even tried getting older APKs of Ridecontrol app for Android, but they still wanted to upgrade. Finally did the upgrade successfully and able to connect. Really happy to discover that this new unit cleared out the +1200 miles that the old display showed for ODO on top of my real mileage (the old mileage was 'added' after a firmware upgrade from 1.5 years ago). Now it is again showing the real mileage that matches my Strava gear tracking. So going forward, I hope to skip any future firmware updates by not updating my app... but will see if Giant allows this.
Explore E+1 2019: I got exactly the same problem as you when I upgraded 3 days ago my bike (upgrade mandatory if I wanted to use the RideControl application). Upgrade was successful. One day after, when I turned the bike power on, it flashes the Giant logo during one second and then turns off, the bike is useless. My LBS told me that the EVO display is probably broken and this is a priori not related to the upgrade, but due to the fact several persons experienced this behavior and problem, I’m convinced this is due to the upgrade.
Did Giant take in charge the EVO display replacement ? (it should be normal for me since Giant promote the new RideControl application and the upgrade)
Assuming that the upgrade killed the firmware, I hoped there should exist a procedure for the LBS to update the firmware without replacing the EVO display (e.g. with a special USB key plugged in the EVO display), does anybody know about that ?
