Geometry Schmeometry! Only affects standover height?

About to buy another Stromer(st2s)and have concluded the only difference between 17" and 20" is you lose standover height on 20". The only measurement that changes is seat tube height(by 3"), top tube length and everything else remains the same. Even on the 22"- seat tube is 5" taller(than 17)but top tube is less than an inch longer.
I could be missing something, and hopefully someone points it out.
Otherwise, I'm going to happily buy 17" and enjoy the easier on-off and spacious stand over height. My other two stromers have been comfort models and I always felt there was plenty of room for my 6' body.

I'm 6'1" and ride the 22" frame principally because of the seat height in relation to the handle bars. I started with a ST-1 20" Limited and opted for the ST-2 after a 60 day trial. I gave up little stand-over height to get more comfort in terms of seat height as related to the handle-bar height. It seems to have been a good choice for me, but I can definitely see where you might be coming from in terms of measurements. I'm not sure about any possible difference in crank length between the 17" and the 20" ST-2 models. I would conjecture that they are the same...

I would prolly erase this post if I could. Bike Geometry is complex I'm sure.
I'll test ride both before I decide- I do know for sure that my st1 and 2 16.5 comfort frames felt perfect to me and hopefully "sport" 17 will feel as good. Mounting the bike and standover height are crucial to me and I've got a half dozen stems and another half dozen sets of handlebars to fine tune.

The crank arm length might be different. I know that on the ST1 17" model the crank arm length is 170 mm wheras on the 20" model the length is 175 mm.

That's interesting....... do you recall where you learned that?
I would like to study(a little) more detailed differences between the 3 sizes.

Specialized are know for their fitting/ geometry stuff.
Out of their 5 steps- The first is physical assessment, then interview, then fitting on cycle...............
I think that makes more sense than height of human alone.
Even though I know how comfortable I am on 17 comfort frame- I'm tripping a bit that Stromer recommends that frame up to 5 3/4' tall and from there to 6.2' tall should buy 20". My standover is very limited on 20", even though my pants are 32 length. Big balls are the difference, I guess.
I'm far from complaining about Stromer- I'm buying my 5th one in 4 years.
If anything, prolly worth riding different sizes before assuming that your height alone should dictate size of bike you buy. Maybe? Lol

Thanks. That was fast! My crude measuring and converting ended up at 177mm for my step- thru. One substantially different measurement from my experience
Is st1 comfort frames headtube is a lot longer than any other Stromer.
I wish there was a Stromer dealer close by, but next week I'll find out what fits me anyway.

Idk, my neighbor used to be an avid mountain biker about 5'10" and he says he ALWAYS bought the smallest frame avaiable for stand over lower height and adjusted bar and seat height to fit him.
I suppose the 5mm crank arm height could mean something- but at 5mm- not much. A change of shoes would yield more than that.
I think I was hoping to be scolded of my ignorance of the word geometry and a explanation of why I need a 20" as Stromer is reccommending.

I was in the shop yesterday and we actually talked at length about this - there are two differences - stand over is different - seat tube is progressively longer/ along with the overall geometry of the frame - the head-tube and stack is the same for all frames in order to accommodate all the operational bits - I went with the medium frame and the ride quality and " agility" on the road is similar to my road bikes -
