FS Watt Wagons

You guys can go to Bicyclegearcalculator.com and select IGH or cassette and pick your cogs and chainring sizes, select cadence and get the speed you should obtain. Old rule of thumb is bigger on the front better for the street, bigger on the back better for the trails.

That’s awesome

Could you put a 46T in front? And what is the max speed with the throttle alone? Let's say you allowed the throttle to be maxed at 1000W.

Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
Hi everyone, What is the front sprocket size on the Hydra, and associated top speed? I want to use my bike primarily for mountain trails but also for some paved trails where 30 MPH would be nice.
I tried to find it on YouTube but there was a video of someone doing an easy 43 mph (flat road) on an Ultimate Commuter Pro (the Hydra is lighter). So 30 mph uphill should be simple. I spoke to an Olympic road racer who said they get up to the low 40s during training so maybe you can be a pace setter - LOL!

My mistake its bicyclegearcalculator.uk different from the one above but still gets you to the same spot.

The chart above (from BruceBrown) is pretty nice. I think a 90 RPM cadence is a bit high. On a kindernay, if I fill in 75 for cadence, then a 42T will go 28 MPH and a 46T will go 30 MPH. Good top speeds. 1st gear moves from 5 MPH to 8 MPH comparing these two chainrings. Is that too high? As Reed said in a different post, we can always split the baby.

What kind of air pressure you carrying in your tires? More pressure more faster easier. 😝

I've been running at 20 PSI on my BBSHD fatbike. The tires can hold 30 but 20 has been good for traction and blue trails. We also have the W&OD trail here in Virginia which is ~45 mi of paved trail from Arlington, VA to Purcellville, VA. Beautiful and bike friendly. So I'd put myself down for a mix of actual trails and paved trails. The ski resorts in the Blue Mountains (an hour away) repurpose their ski trails as MB trails in the summer.

My Travelanche had a 39 front and a 10-52 rear cassette and I was able to do 35 no problem. I changed the front to a 42 and my top speed went up to 39.5. And I just had knee surgery 8 weeks ago so I don’t see 30 as a problem.

on what PAS were you on and was it on ECO or SPORT mode when you got up to 39.5.

I was in ECO and PAS 3 and I was peddling at a good pace. While peddling at a casual pace on a flat road I was cruising at 27mph. With the 39 tooth front sprocket cruising was 23mph. A 46 tooth might fit on the front but clearance might be close. I called Pushkar before I bought the 42 tooth sprocket and he said no problem with the 42. I bought a Race Face sprocket per Pushkars advice. It seems nicer and a little heavier duty then the stock one as well.

Could you post a link and or a picture ... preferably on the bike? Thanks

42 tooth sprocket is a tight fit but works fine.

@pushkar

can we use the Bafang 500C mini display with the Archon X1 controller? I’d like to have a smaller more low key display than what comes on the bike.
