Frame breakage Vado turbo

or could it be Creo's and whatever else dates from then?
I don't think so. Creo is a totally different design.
Now, see how lucky I am with my 2017 Vado that doesn't want to break after two years of use! :D

Many thanks for you and pajazzo bringing us up to date with your situations - much appreciated.

I am a bit more relaxed about a possible replacement now :).

Did you get a 2022 model Vado 5?
To answer your question - my replacement bike is a 2021 VADO 5. I think I prefer the ride of my previous Vado 6 more -- it just felt more 'sporty' -- but I still only have a few dozen miles on the new bike and getting used to it. Also, after 18 months of hibernation the rider isn't the same either...

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but after doing a bit of googling to see if anyone else had had a similar frame breakage on their Vado bikes, I found this was one of the few places I could find which had several reports of identical frame breakage issues to my Vado and I wanted to share my experience. I've only used my 2019 Vado 3.0 for commuting on the road. When the frame snapped, it also sheared one of the motor bolts too. I was riding it for some time before I eventually took to the shop to investigate why the entire frame vibrated when changing gear under electric power.

Luckily Specialized agreed to replace it under their lifetime frame warranty with a 2023 Vado 3.0 model (looks identical to the 2022).

The whole process took about 2 weeks from dropping bike off at shop to receiving the new bike. Although the 2023 Vado has a 9 speed Alivio groupset (old bike had 10 speed Deore), the bike does still feel like an upgrade and is more modern in design.

Anyway here's some pics of the snapped frame in the exact same place as everyone's elses so was clearly a design flaw. Hopefully after 4 years Specialized made the necessary changes to avoid this happening again!

Unfortunately that happens to the first generation of Vados. My frame was also replaced by Specialized, and they upgraded my S-Pedelec Vado 5.0 to 6.0 in the process as the lifetime frame warranty.

Do you notice the frame being stiffer on the newer model? This was on my mind when Ride1Up revealed their CF Racer since the carbon frame looks so thin.

All frames of the Gen 1 Vado (2017-2021) were of the identical design. The current Vado 6.0 is MY 2020, and Specialized seems to have discontinued that model. The design has changed with the Gen 2 but I have never tried a newer model so I cannot say anything on that.

Does the weight of the bike matter, to risk for breaking? Looks like the Vado is 60 lbs, and the CF Racer is 28 lbs (and also have a lower rider weight limit).
