Electric socks?

Prairie Dog, still riding when it's minus 8 degrees C.......you Albertans are a tough lot!
Here on the 'Wet' coast (Vancouver Island) I stop riding when the temp drops below 1 degree C. 🥶

@Deacon Blues - The recent conditions have been remarkably mild and I've been doing my best to get out and ride whenever I can. Daytime lows in January usually hover around -15 C so this fortuitous reprieve is welcomed by most Albertans. I'm somewhat fearful that the weather gods won't be so understanding by month's end. 😟

BTW, I love the bold flatbar conversion that you've done on your CD lefty. That’s one cool looking ride! 👍I'm still waiting on a folding lefty that I purchased through a Kickstarter campaign several years ago. Meanwhile, my Creo is still condemned to solitary confinement for at least another three months.

We Canadians can be somewhat fatalistic about the weather. Although, as @Prairie Dog says, it's been mild, the common thinking around here is "we'll pay for this later!"

Current forecast, which is valid for the next 3 minutes:

As for socks, I don't have heated socks, but I use merino based "Smartwool" socks in Grisport light hiking boots.

My last pair of ski boots, a pair of Lange Comps, had an electric heating pad in the insoles. I often used to top up the charge in the lodge at lunch when i could find an outlet, and always got some strange looks, and even more questions about where they could get some!

Winter's coming to Poland. There's going to be a week of frost reaching -10 C at the day time (it is still not dramatic for Poland; I can easily remember recent winters of -25 C). There is snowing. I need to ride yet I'm afraid.

To relieve my anxiety, I've bought some new clothing items. For instance, merino wool leggings and a long-sleeve shirt; or, heated insoles as an addition to my heated socks. I can also wear two layers of gloves. We'll see what the coming Saturday and the 2 x 30 km ride in -8 C frost holds. Ah, in case of solid snowfall, I'll decidedly replace the Vado tyres with studded ones.
