What makes it great? It's a custom fat bike designed around the Bafang BBS02. Early birds at $1499!! Holy crap!.. What you guys think?

Makes me think: why would you need Kickstarter for this?

The prices can be kept that low only if we meet the volume requirements of our suppliers. Making a custom frame also becomes inexpensive with large volumes. This is why we need kickstarter.

Kickstarter is great but only if one has plenty of time to wait, because many of these kinds of projects take a year or so longer than they project, and are comfortable with high risk. v1.0 of products tend to have lots of quirks that need to be worked out and the first in line do not necessarily get the benefit.

Actually we have already got 5 prototypes which we tested the crap out of. Our production factory and suppliers are also ready to perform. All we need is the moola!

Include a prototype bike that will fit someone under 5'4" and with a sloping top bar, and you'll have a much bigger audience. We shorties who are under 5'3" need a bike sized appropriately.

I dunno, I saw this bike on YouTube a few days ago, it's very nice, but there are other fat bikes with mid-drive motors coming out in 2015. Optibike is working on their own custom one, and CurrieTech has the Sumo scheduled to come out also.

Hey guys, funny coincidence, after reading about the BS that Kaldeem had to go through I thought about the RIIDE review that Court had done and re-watched it.
Good price $1799, you can check out the spec's,http://riide.com/#tech-specs , anyway I was curious to see if they had delivered the bike's that were promised by May 2014, as they met their kickstarter campaign goal (wanted $50k raised $117k) on 2/16/2014. Read the comments section of the website and you find out they haven't delivered them yet and people are getting nervous about their pledge that was supposed to turn into a e-bike. I e-mailed them asking if I ordered a bike when could I expect it? Amber replied quickly saying that they are rapping up production of their first production run which will ship in a couple weeks (kickstarter pledger's must be thrilled) and if I ordered now it should be shipped by the end of December. This whole thing also reminds me of Flykly, remember how long the delay was on that - let alone they redesigned the whole product in the process. I guess my point is 1) invest in these e-bike kickstarter campaigns if you are able to park your money for a while and 2) are in no rush to receive the product you haven't test ridden and 3) have the patience of a saint. I'd lose my mind.

Looks like a nice bike, fun bike. Not a commuter, not so much a tool but a toy. Would be a fun weekender and any bike riding would be good for fitness. The last year I've been running the dogs with a bike in a 4 acre field that I'm not using for anything else. And I've thought about purpose building an ebike on an old Raleigh. And that's what this "fat-ebike" reminds me of; a private, personal build from stock parts. Seems like a good price but is it anything special? Is it special enough to take a chance on? Add the wait time, will it be special 6 months from now?
