Electric bike book suggestions

Hi Court,

Just finished reading the book.
Great compilation actually. It is educative and the book needs to be complemented with EBR videos to grasp the whole gamut of experience.
I was reading on the kindle app on Chrome and on my tablet.
Just a few thoughts so that your version 2 can be an outstanding guide. Looks like you hurried through to finish it on time. Could have used some proof reading and formatting.
  1. Links to specific contents. I had to flip through every page to get to page XX or YY. If I could jump from content page to specific, just makes it easy.

  2. Some of these YT and other links can be shortened (looks cleaner).

  3. I felt like the images could be formatted to have equal spacing from top-bottom (top had zero spacing while the bottom had 12 or 24 spacing). Also the headings looked like Calibri-headings font on the MS word.

  4. Since this is a practical guide, you could include some basic cost-savings analysis done Fitz or Brambor. Someone had included a neat spreadsheet with some calculations. In fact, newwheel had posted this link about a person in SF who had sold his car to get a Kalkhoff and how he is benefiting from it. Here is a link. Some practical info like that would appeal to certain segment of readers.

  5. Also, asking Amazon to promote this book whenever someone searches/purchases an electric bike could boost your sales quite a bit. Amazon has sold over 100's of prodeco's and currie's. They must be getting at least 1000 hits a day. If your book appears 25% of the time and out of that 25%, 10 click it, your traffic would increase substantially.

Awesome Ravi! I'm curious which font you'd recommend for ease of reading? I tried to choose a serif font with the little ridges because I heard that this was better for reading.

Many of the other suggestions were ones I had considered (spacing, linking table of content etc.) but I'm not sure that's available? I followed the Kindle instructions and created the book using Word and then used their converter tool.

On your last point about asking Amazon to promote the book, how is that done? I didn't realize it was possible and have simply categorized my book as being about bikes, fitness and outdoors. Thanks again! The screenshots helped me zero in on tips. Also, I will use the shorter YouTube links when I update :D

Hi Court,
I think most of these points were very generic and I am sure you're capable of doing much better job. I just felt this book's writing may have been rushed. I am pretty sure your upcoming version will be much better. The fonts look great.

I am not quite sure how advertising works with Amazon but there should be a way to do it because every time I searched Prodeco or Currie or etc, many related things would pop up. So people who are browsing around, once they visit EBR, they can get hooked on to it :)
The book's job is to direct the ebike enthusiasts to look at EBR.

We could come up with a collage or T-shirt with some witty captions. May be you could use a collage of people who are active on EBR and their photo with ebikes. This makes a big difference for those readers who are skeptical.

Thanks for the tips and creative ideas Ravi! I just got back and have Currie reviews to edit and post, updates to the site and a bunch of comments and things to take care of. I agree that the book has enormous potential for improvement and I'll keep working slow and steady towards that goal.

In the meantime, I think it offers a good foundation for people who are new to the space and is more direct and actionable than some of the alternatives. I hope people benefit from it and if we end up with a few new faces here, that's great too! I really tried to make it a benefit to the reader and not be too preachy, bias or promotional.
