Como M/L vs. XL sizing question

Hello all, contemplating the purchase of the Como.

I'm right on the cusp of between the two sizes. When I input the data at Specialized website it says size L, when I look at the Como suggested sizing it says XL. Either a M/L or XL are the choices. Don't want to be too cramped on the leg portion.

I'm 6'1", about normal proportions.

I have a Vado now, I've raised the handle bars and the lean forward is still too much for my lower back. I think either a disc or vertebrate likes to slip out on long rides. So hoping a more upright might help this.

So who is around 6'1" and what size Como did you get and how did it work out for you. Thanks for any input.

Just an fyi.

RE if the sizing on the Como from M/L to XL is to much or you are right on the dividing line, compared to a Low Entry Como L, the Low entry is similar in sizing to the M/L except the reach is a little more upright and rearward still, from what I can tell on their measurements.

So if you are concerned about the M/L being too small, it is comparable to the L in the step through, though the L in step through has higher and rearward handle bars by a fraction, making it more relaxed, and the L in step through is the largest size in step through, all the way up to 6'5" or so.

If that means anything.

I am 6' 2" with 34" inseam and comfortably ride a M/L Como 2.0. I test rode the XL but it felt a liitle big to me. I would highly suggest test riding different sizes before buying even though that is probably not possible at the present time due to supply shortages.

I’m 6’1”, 250 lbs, 32” inseam and ride Como 5.0 M/L frame. It’s perfect for me. Wife has a Como 3.0 L low entry, and to me they feel the same.

Big congrats to you, @Marcela! Please report how riding the Como compares to the Vado.
I've had it about 3-4 weeks. Somewhere over 100 miles. Really like it. Vado and Como are pretty close same weight. Both models are 5's, so components are same. Really nothing to not like about the Como. I'd prefer a rack on the rear over the pizza rack. I cut the wings off the pizza rack and installed rubber pieces over the tube, it's not as wide but still holds anything on top and the panniers will hook on. Tires are plenty wide on the Como, ordered some of the Electra 2.0 Armadillo for the Vado as you suggested. After riding the Como, I jump on the Vado and because of the rider position, ask myself what for?, and jump back on the Como. I can take as much pain as the next guy, but there is really no reason, I mean leaning over with your weight on your arms for how long?, I can do it but why when there is an alternative. You think that forward lean is going to get you something? lol..

I also installed the Brooks B67 on the Como, like it so much I'm putting one on the Vado. Being the B67 is wider it supports more than the sit bones, and is more comfortable to myself, plus spring supported.

I think you have a Como Stefan?

I consider advising Como purchase to a female friend of mine, Marcela. Just waiting for the time these bikes are back in stock... I would be happy to own a Como myself but the 25 km/h e-bike is a deal breaker for me. And I wouldn't like to derestrict yet another e-bike.

At the moment I'm happy with what I own: the top of the line Vado, a full suspension e-MTB, a touring e-bike so my brother has something to ride... Why ask for more? Especially as another e-bike I'd like to own hasn't been designed yet 😊

I'm curious how you'd like your Electrak tyres.

I hear you on the forward riding position on the Vado. I got used to it. The joy when the bike noiselessly accelerates to high speed is worth all money (even with some discomfort) 😊

@Marcela, an afterthought. To make the most out of your Vado, invest in Ergon GP3 grips and get used to riding the bike in the "steering-wheel" fashion. A life changer 😊

You know, I got them too, they're sitting in there on the bench. I liked the thicker handles but never used the ends. I think I got the GP5 which are bigger bar ends. So I just went back to the OEM units. Maybe I'll try them on the Como.....

I finally was able to test a como and vado over a 13 mile Ride : At first I thought WOW the como is for me : But as the ride progressed I started to feel the como actually is a tad to Upright for me : The stretch we rode was all hills : Like a roller coaster We road 13 miles out turned around and came back : With the Vado I never left ECO Mode . Even on the steepest hill . With the como I felt like I was laid back in teh saddle. Just the geometry made it different to climb with : I had the Como in eco as well as Sport several times :

Maybe it's because I am used to rides over this same stretch with a Non Electric : I have to say This is Cheating LOL. What a Blast . But I must confess I didn't feel after the ride I'd gotten anywhere near the workout : Definitely never breathed hard :

I also feel at least for me. That Turbo is a Mode I'd never use unless I was alone and trying to get somewhere in a rush : On the Vado and Como I had no problems getting to 25 MPH and maintaining it on flats in ECO.

I have to attribute that to all the miles I've ridden on a generic :

They finally showed up today. Our USPS is getting to be a hit and miss. The Electraks are a noticeable improvement on rolling resistance over the Triggers, and probably a little softer ride also. Funny how a tire can make or break a ride. Guys complain about the resistance of an ebike, on our bikes I would point to the Triggers. Or, if I was Specialized, I'd let the Triggers die a slow and quiet death, hopefully.

As soon as I get the B67 on the Vado, it'll be on par with the Como comfort, or real close. Really need that seat.......
