Chain Drop To Outside Of Chain Ring When On Small Cog - Every Ride - Multiple Times - Brand New

Having problem right from the start with chain dropping to the outside of chain-wheel while in smallest cog with medium pedal pressure applied. (It gets held in by the inner and outer chain-wheel guards). I can use rear derailleur to get it back on by shifting to at least middle cog. I adjusted small-cog derailleur stops and pulled derailleur guard out for no interference with no improvement. I am currently adjusting rear axle positioning with the idea of reducing the obvious huge amount cross-chain alignment. The cross-chain alignment is like a front derailleur trying to shift the chain onto the non-existent "next chain ring". Jury still out on that attempt. Anyone else facing this issue?
 
Does the crankset/chainwheel run perfectly true? If you turn the crank and look at it from above, does the ring appear straight or does it snake from side-to-side? Is there any play or looseness in the bottom bracket/crank bearing?
 
Thanks, I have used that video to adjust the rear derailleur to perfection! I have zero problems with the rear derailleur and rear gears. My problem is the chain comes off the FRONT CHAIN RING (only when in seventh gear) always to the outside and only when I am exerting medium to strong pedal effort. It stays on the front chain ring when I pedal lightly.

It runs true with no load. Wiggling in all 6 directions reveals no slopping sounds. But! Grabbing both pedals and simulating pedaling force (with my hands only) shows the chain wheel flexing out of plane! I'm 240 and strong, maybe the flexing under real leg pressure is enough for chain to derail! Does it take a special tool to tighten and loosen the crankset nuts bearings ect? Thank you for leading me in this direction.

Does it make any sound or do you feel anything move when you do this? If you do, that would indicate the bottom bracket is loose. I assume it has a sealed cartridge BB. In that case the crank arms would need to be removed and the BB torqued properly into the BB shell.

I am not familiar with the crank that is on the Lectric. From the online photo I see on their site, it appears to have a stamped steel chainring. It is possible that it is flexing it under load.

Does it take a special tool to tighten and loosen the crankset nuts bearings ect?

The crankarms themselves are secure with 14mm bolts or 8mm hex bolts; they only require a 14mm socket or 8m hex wrench. Removing the arms and tightening the BB does require special tools.

Sounds like your chain may be a couple links too long or your derailleur is not keeping enough tension on the chain, both or either or. Many people claim that a 'Narrow Wide' chain ring will cure this problem. Look at your chain while off the bike when the chain is on the smallest cog. Does it have ANY slack?
