Buy a chinese fatbike, what's your opinion?

not much choice right now ... it's high season and all sold out ...

how about these questions about the engine and Ah?

The drawback with the battery in the frame is that the space is constrained. You may not be able to find a 15Ah pack that fits in there, but with today's better cells, maybe.

For motor performance, as long as the battery can supply the current demanded by the ebike controller, it will be fine. I would expect Engwe, like other bike sellers, has matched their 12.8AH battery current output to satisfy the controller. It won't go any faster with a 15Ah battery, but it will have a longer range, about 18% more.

I wouldn't worry about it not being a Bafang motor.

At least a somewhat proprietary battery. So limited range, limited or nonexistent upgrade capability and limited and possibly nonexistent replacement options.

The bike actually doesn't look half bad with respect to components and features. But given they have no reputation (google around to see if thats accurate) I'd be hesitant to say the least.

the battery is removable and can be bought so no problem here

what would you choose

12.8Ah but LG batteries
15Ah but Chinese no name batteries

this model is better? it's $ 300 more expensive :

One concern with an unknown Chinese seller is trust. You really have to believe they used LG batteries. Do you intend to cut open the case? No one does, so you have to believe them. Personally, I don't. 2nd and a major concern is customer support and parts. That eBike is sold by a ton of internet "dealers" and it's the wild west trying to get help. I worked too hard for my money, I don't like gambling with it.

There is no problem with the parts, they are available on aliexpress.

With batteries, you can never be sure, you are buying a mega expensive bike and you do not know what's inside because the warranty.

This Engwe has my trust more, they have their own side, even that.

i'm from poland, i have limited ordering options, nice fatbikes but shipping only usa and canada (lectric). So I have to choose what is there and the choice is small because it is the holiday season.

I wrote to them on messenger and they are available in Europe ...

I know its removable but the pack shape and connectors are an open question. Do you KNOW that something else will fit in that spot... exactly? They have to on this sort of bike. 'close' is not good enough and its not like you can swap out a set of powerpoles for an XT90 and poof you're done.

LG is a name brand so - assuming they really are LG, which you have no way of determining - the LG cells would be preferable. If they're really LG.

I do not want a super range from this bike, I will be happy when it will be half the range of what is given on the website

I am not really a fan of these types of folding fat bikes. They don't really fold up that small, they are heavy, and the fat tire adds rolling resistance unless you are going to use it on sand, mud, or snow. This will reduce range, make the bike unpleasant to pedal without a motor, and reduce your speed. As for the battery, these unknown sellers of batteries of questionable providence will lie about their specs. They could actually be the same battery from the same factory. You won't know unless you can find someone who has actually bought one of these bikes.

Yes, I know one person who has such a bike only a lower model and is happy, there is no LG battery, only Chinese, but they write about it in the specification

Well, if your friend had good luck with his purchase, the safest thing would be to buy the same bike. Cheap batteries do have a higher risk of catching fire. It is best to always charge them while you are keeping an eye on them and not asleep, or even better, outdoors.

Please check the return policy ... looks like you will pay a hefty restocking fee plus shipping IF they approve a return at all...

Did you have a chance to ride that person's bike? Or at least ride a bike like the one you are considering? And can you legally ride a 750 watt bike anywhere in Poland ?

no, in Poland you can not have more than 250W and 25km/h but no one checks it, you can not sell stronger in stores, but you can have at home and drive.

I ride a fatbike but on 26 inch wheels and under my weight it was great, I had a DH bike and there were also wider wheels than in regular bikes
