BH goes big, well light actually

RH has been around for years and it seems they have been busy over there in Spain and paying attention to the eBike market and wants to get ahead in the new light category. Seems to me to be a winner at least in the looks department and has higher wh batteries than the competition as well as nm torque. All in a 16.2kg package.

In Spanish but has english sub titles.

Wonder when Lenny's will get some in!

A Stunning design... very light and responsive at 35lbs. I hope that BH will soon return to the states! ;)

Per bikerumor it's 9000€, at a claimed 16.8kg complete. That's north of $10K and 37 pounds. Meh.

I think that price includes the 2nd extended battery... still a bit pricy, but its pay to play. ;)

r when Lenny's will get some in!
He told me he can get any of the new ones with a deposit.

The majority does not know it but , BH is the fist bike company that started the new ebike revolution(as in the compact ebikes with integrated downtube battery).
In 2012 they had the first ebikes . Stromer heavily borrowed from BH (the TQ sensor, the same battery) and Specialized followed up in 2013.

That's why with their long history they now have this amazing 720wh ebikes under 40lb. And their warranty and build is excellent.

For Example :the rear wheel dropouts are replaceable( hub motor , not sure about mid drive) , the same for the motor hub axle: the ends of the aXLe are also replaceable.

180 Wh battery? And I wonder what motor type, power, torque. If I wanted a lightweight e-MTB, that would be Levo SL.

This is such an impressive bike. 35-36lbs with top notch suspension and 540wh battery which is expandable to 720wh. Seriously this thing has a slightly larger battery than Domane hp+ on top it is slightly lighter and it is full suspension mtb.

This is the right kind of bike for active riders to significantly extend their ranges while still riding a bike which as close to a normal mtb as possible...

That's an impressive looking ebike, looking not much different from a "normal" bike. How were they able to fit a battery that size into a downtube that slim?! Am I correct in assuming that it is not removable?

Here's a translated German article.

Battery permanently integrated in tube. Also, seems 16.8 kg is only for 100mm travel without dropper. Otherwise it starts at 18 kg (closer to 40 pounds). Unclear it that's with range extender.
The 180Wh range extender battery is included in the top xPRO model price and weight summary.

It is probably not. But it should be serviceable by dropping the motor first. at 35-36lbs I don't think it matters much.

Its BH's own, in house mid drive with 250 watts nominal and 65 Nm of torque. The downtube battery is 540 wh, the range extender is 180 wh.

And also the down-tube battery does except a fast charger (prob .6amps rate) such as the Grin Satiator.

It is not easily removable , has screws , that is how they dropped a few pounds by not using the regular hard cover , b/c external bat. needed the bulkier design .

Here are a few photos of the new supplemental battery and motor design... along with a few tech specs below.
BH iLynx Race Carbon neatly tucks in BH's own light, powerful, long-range e-bike system - Bikerumor

The new iLynx Race Carbon eMTB uses the same updated 2.2kg compact BH 2ESMAG motor that debuted in the Core Carbon Race all-road & GravelX gravel back in Nov 2020, said to be the result of a decade of producing e-bikes. Promising low friction, quiet operation, the 250W motor has a low (for e-bikes) 163mm Q-factor and now gets boosted output to 65Nm of torque. Paired to a small diameter 540Wh battery tucked into the downtube, BH says the iLynx Race Carbon gets a trail range for 130km. And like the Core bikes, an add-on 180Wh XPro bottle battery will extend your range, off-road by another 45km, to a total range.

BH calls “record-breaking” in a light eMTB of 175km of real XC riding. The unique XPro bottle+cage is also wire-free. The cage connects to the internal battery through the downtube, so you need only snap the XPro bottle battery into place for extended range, or use the smart cage to carry a regular water bottle. The BH pedal-assist powertrain has 4 modes operated by a small controller that sits next to your dropper remote, with status shown on a full-color X Display on the bar (like Di2) next to the stem. The whole system communicates with Bluetooth & ANT+ and will share data to your Garmin GPS.

This isn't the only $10k + eMTB out there and for sure more than I would ever put down on a bicycle but there is alot going on with this bike that I can appreciate as someone that has been following the e movement for over 20yrs. The attention to detail in that they wanted to imitate the ride quality of their successful XC bike using their split pivot design and how they pulled that off rather than just saying close enough designing/getting manufactured outside the normal outlets their own motor took some money and of all the high $ bikes I have seen this is the first one that I feel deserves it and can't wait for the technology to trickle down into a more affordable bike in the coming years.

The "light" eMTB movement does nothing for me personally. I don't mind a 40-45lb bike as long as there is a reason for it to be so that also compensates for how much it weighs. Like a motor and a battery. Adding a 30-40nm motor and a 300ishwh battery just isn't going to work for how I have to come to like to ride, I could tell that the first time I tried the SL a year ago. However I do think that a bike like this could be the happy medium as I really am more a wheels on the ground XC type rider and the 120mm of suspension, 65nm motor and over 700wh total battery would more than cover any ride/terrain that I want to take on. So what if it weighs 40lbs that is still 5lbs. off what I ride now, So call it a middle weight or something but for sure this bike is a contender.

The only problem I see is with the gen cool kids accepting this bike in that it doesn't have more mm of suspension for their down country experiences and mandatory air but I imagine that this same system could easily be built into a bigger sus bike. Pretty much all that crowd is just looking for the shuttle function and seems like at 65nm it would do that just fine. At this time their longest travel push bike is only 130mm in what would seem a sea of 150-170mm. So it seems that long travel isn't high on their priority list anyway.
