Battery Issue, or?

I have had my share of issues with my Stromer ST-1 Elite and the Platinum they replaced it with due to intermittent electrical issues.

My Elite was ridden 1800 miles, and my Platinum has 1900 miles on it. The Platinum has been totally reliable until yesterday. Took off on a 15 mile ride--the gold battery showed 84% of capacity. 8 miles into the ride, with just under 50% of the battery power left causing along on flat land, the power to the motor stopped completely. At first the LCD display was ok, but a couple of minutes later it shut down. What I noticed before the LCD shut off was--the arrows showing amount of power consumption were gone. So I assume between that and the fact that I had to pedal like crazy, the motor wasn't getting any power.

I tried many times to restart it. I let it sit for 20 minutes and was able to restart it and rode it a few hundred yards, but the battery icon showed it was at 0%. When I charged it overnight it would only take 85% of the normal capacity, not 100% as it always has in the past.

Any thoughts before I take it back again to the dealer? Getting very frustrating. Bad battery? Short circuit? Torque sensor?

OUCH...this doesn't sound too promising. I'm curious if you are charging the battery while in the bike or out of the bike? I'm not sure that it should make any difference, but I try to charge my battery in the bike, thinking that is is one less break in the electrical system. I once did have the problem of the charge only reaching 85%, but disconnected the charger and reconnected it which solved that problem. The electrical gremlins seem to appear from time to time and most generally, pulling then replacing the battery from the bike, seems to solve the problem. Clearly this isn't the case here. Hopefully the dealer can find the problem. All of your scenarios seem like reasonable conjectures...best of luck with finding a solution.

Thanks, taking battery in to dealer today. It's still under warranty so hoping they'll sort it out or replace it if necessary.
