Range Extender behavior and firmware

I recently had some service done on my bike, which may have included a firmware update.
Unfortunately, my LBS is not the best and didn't make a note of whether they did or didn't update the firmware.
The reason I suspect a firmware update might have been done is I have noticed a couple different behaviors since getting the bike back from the shop.

The first thing is when engaging the "walk" function of the bike, the LED display now shows an animation where it didn't before.
Also, when using the range extender on "discharge extender first" mode, when the range extender gets depleted, the bike will automatically switch to the main battery.
This wasn't the case before, and the bike would just shut off when the extender got discharged. It's nice since I no longer need to stop, unplug the range extender and then restart.

Has anyone with a range extender who's done firmware updates noticed any change in behavior?

I hadn't updated the SL firmware since June 2023. However, the behaviour of the "discharge extender first" on my Vado SL has always been that the drop of the RE below 5% was resulting in the RE charge being 0%, and the main battery was kicking in automatically. Moreover, some current from the main battery is taken before the RE gets depleted.

I think your SL and Range Extenders have been actually updated as it looks your SL system now works more reliably than mine.

Specialized advises updates every six-months. They are mostly a download of your data but do make the bikes work a little better, unless you purchased a Globe Haul with a thumb throttle, then it will get a downgrade without your permission, and not the way and terms upon which you purchased the bike. Then cargo moms get unwittingly screwed. I like best when bikes are owned by the owner and programing is not limited or centrally controlled or use monitored.
