Battery Fire! What’s the latest News, Thoughts and Prevention

I don’t use my oven much. When I do, I have to manually light a propane pilot light, which I physically couldn’t do if a battery was in it.

So in that situation, would a typical oven contain a battery fire?

I’m on limited income and bought a UPP shrink wrapped 20ah 48v battery. Now I’m questioning whether I should even use it.

as long as no chance it should but it depends o the over. a new one that is self clean can get far hotter then a regular oven.

I’d want something that was movable. See previous posts. Hazard cabinet and modified ammo cans. I’m adding a fire blanket to cover the ammo can with the gasket removed and welding gloves nearby. see YouTube for good videos. I intended to do an ammo can test. I’m hoping to feel good enough to manage it soon. Local FD will be contacted to monitor. These things take time.

Man, to many opinions spoil a plan. one blanket maker says cover until you can flood with water. Another writes,
“Why lithium fires are more dangerous than typical fires.

THere was a big battery fire in a battery recyclers warehouse in Morris Illinois. The fire department decided they couldn't use water, and let it burn for a few days, Then they decided to put concrete over the burning packs. I dunno,

There's no metallic lithium in our batteries, I've seen lithium burn in water though.

Please read on. Sadly there’s a lot of confusing and varied information. Cell phone battery? Sure. But ABC won’t cool a burning pack with 50 cells. Water? If you have a fire truck. Suggesting ABC for home use is negligent. Please read and research more.

If you think about it, when one purchases a Tesla Model 3, you are paying about $275/kWh and get an 8-year warranty and liquid cooling technology. In comparison, E-bike batteries cost upwards of $800/kWh and come with only a 1-2 year warranty and minimal safety features. This has to change and will change in the coming years.
