Attaching a rear fender on Haibike SDURO HardFour 4.0 24"

I'm attaching a rear fender to the kids' Haibike (the yellow one). Haibike has two holes on each side of the bike drilled and plugged. I removed the plugs but was dismayed to realize that the holes are nonstandard -- none of the mounting screws I have fit, they are either too big or too small.

So I was wondering if anyone knows what types of screws actually fit those holes. Thanks!

Are the holes threaded? I’d roll that bike into a hardware store and test out some nuts and bolts.

The holes are threaded but I don't think I can (or want) to roll a bike into a hardware store. I was rather hoping that someone would point me to a detailed technical sheet for the bike or something.

TL;DR this was a weird experience. Basically, the side holes for the attachments were 4mm, but the central hole IIRC was smaller, about 3mm or thereabouts. Can't say exact size because I tried lots of bolts until one worked.

The whole installation experience was quite miserable though. On one side, the fender struts are attached to the 4mm dedicated hole as well as a piece of metal that stretches to it (looks ugly, tbh). On the other side, I attached the struts to the holes clearly inteded for a support. Strangely enough, there is no assymetry.

Just in case anyone's wondering which fenders, I used these ones.
