Are wire bead tires compatible with the wheels on a 2019 Rad Rover?

One issue to consider is that the range of tire widths that are suitable are governed by your inner rim width. I would ask Rad for that info and the suitable range of tire widths.

I did ask Rad about this. All they reply is to buy one of their existing tires that I already have or go to a bike shop and ask them if you want something different.

So, I guess I am headed to a LBS......

Get the inner rim width from Rad. They can't turn down that request. Lots of tire manufacturers have look up tables to indicate what tires will fit that rim size.

I checked the Rad web site and they do not list a specific brand name for the rim so you will need to get the rim size from Rad.

Could just establish the inner rim width directly. Measure the outer width then break the bead, measure rim edge thickness and subtract (X 2) from the outer width measurement.

I like folding bead because it's more flexible and I feel it's easier to stretch over the 4" rim than a wire bead tire. I broke all my plastic tire irons trying to get the cheap tires off my bike (not a Rad), but the folding bead replacements were easy to go on. I now have plastic irons with internal steel cores for this job.

I believe fat tires are more about frame clearance than rim width. On my 20" fatbike with 3" rims, I dropped down from 20 x4.0" tires to 20 x 3". I also use 26 x 3.5" Veeco Speedster on the 4" rims on my 26" fat bike. If I believe amazon reviews, people have put the Veeco 26 x 4.8" snowshoe on 3.5" rims.

Based on my searching, I get the feeling that Vee is not making the Speedster anymore. Their direct links on Amazon no longer shows them and the link on their direct site is a 404. It appears they have a new sales site (shopvee tire or something like that) and the Speedster in the 26x3.5 size is no longer shown anywhere.

Basically, it's being sold on ebay by a couple bike shops, probably from existing stock, and no where else.
