Apex Luna VS Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra FS Pro

Hello!

Yes, I am very new to this this world of Ebikes.

I have been kicking tires, and reading up some about these bikes. For my size and needs I have narrowed it down to the 2 bikes mentioned in the title.

*I am 6ft, 260lb
-bike will be used for commuting, trails, errands, and pleasure
-reside in Vancouver B.C.

So, I would like to request pros and cons of either bike.
I see both have a Ultra motor. Luna uses a Ultra Max, while Biktix is a Ultra M620. What`s the difference?
Any and all feedback is welcome.

Both are the same base motor (M620 is the model number for the Ultra).

Luna has customized it. I'd think the Biktrix would do you well enough, and hey, they're a Canadian company.

Also, thanks to @cstmichael for finding out that Transport Canada has changed its rules re: importing e-bikes from international sellers...

The Luna might not even make it through customs.

EDIT to add: the Bixtrix is also $2000 cheaper, once you factor in exchange rate. Tack on another $900 (very rough estimate) for importing the Luna (if it slips by Transport Canada), and you're looking at close to a $3000 difference.

I see that as $2900 worth of customizations once you've had it for a while and know what you want out of a ride.

Both motors are almost the same, it just has a few different names some call it an Ultra some call it G510 or M620, the difference is Luna is using there in house controller so the Apex is 2000watts vs the 1000watt Biktrix and Luna's Ultra motors are currently made of Magnesium unlike other companies,If your looking for power and lighter weight then you may prefer the Luna, im not sure how durable that Apex frame is but i am sure thats its funky looking and pricey,the Apex is $6500 if you want the one year warranty! I would try to find some reviews on both bikes and both companies before laying down that much cash....oh and one more thing i have never seen the Apex in Stock on the Luna site in the past 2 years.

The base model is priced about halfway between the two, but it's a full carbon frame and 10-15lbs lighter.

If I were considering a Bafang Ultra FS eMTB, I think the Hydra would be on the very short list.

And I agree with antboy.

The original Apex design with the custom Battery box was unique (Even if a carbon copy of the Audi ebike prototype)
But now with their weird looking battery box, it looses that bold look.

So with a Hydra, you get the same overall benefits of carbon frame, Internal Geared Hub and boosted motor options, but with a choice for two different IGH, and more importantly a much better high power controller.
The Archon X1 appears to be way better than the Luna Ludicrous.

And you get to deal with a customer caring owner Puskar, instead or Eric Luna.....

Luna is the second bookmark of my now nearly 200 list of ebike related web pages. I asked to be notified when either an Apex or an Apollo could actually be purchased a year ago and never heard from them. The Apex is out of stock. Eric shows 3 whole reviews on the Apex page. A huge page with volumes of information I might add. If there are 20 Apex bikes in the wild I would be shocked.

The Apollo recently came into stock, but sold out quickly.
I got to ride a friend's Apex when I was first looking. I'm sure "20" is an exaggeration.

Not gonna happen. One bike may suit up to 3 of the above but not 4. FWIW, neither the Apex or Jug would be that great of a choice for trails.. They Hydra would be better suited for that. Not sure it would make for a good commuter though. Love my Frey CC for commuting, gravel, errands and pleasure. Picked up a lighter eMTB for trails.
