The instructions say to remove the battery while the bike is being transported. If it’s pouring rain during the transport is the open hole OK. It drains? Dirt from the wet roads getting in there- no problem? Should the open area be flushed with clean water? Should the hole be covered with Saran Wrap? Should I put a towel in the hole?

I also now have the same cover. I used saran press n seal sticky wrap with some electric tape to keep it from flapping loose until the neoprene cover arrived.

The cover that @Dallant gave you a link to above in message #2
Ordered from Amazon. I’m sorry I missed the post.
just spoke with my LBS. He said he would not remove the battery during transport. He knows what TREK recommends but with rain, dirt , etc he thinks it’s best to keep the cover on.

BTW: I will never assume that the battery will stay in place during transport. So until I get my sleeve I will use something that does not mar the paint to make sure the battery is secure.

I suppose you could keep the battery in but I’d keep that neoprene cover over it. I’d be concerned that the battery latch/lock would get very shook up/worn. And keeping the battery out makes it easier to lift onto and off of the rack.

I always take the battery out to lift it on the rack. My old eBike was 43 total pounds, 7 less with the battery removed. This is 54. My brother just bought a Thule rack with a ramp. I may go to that.
I appreciate the replies and help.
