    2021 Allant+ 9S

This is an interesting variation for international market. The US 2021 version seems unchanged. The carbon fork on mine works well with the large tires giving some damping. The belt drive is nice, but I like the 510% range of the derailleur system. Another nice thing is the standard stem they...

Any Allant+ owners had a system update?

I can confirm I got this update as well on my allant 9.9s. I had the update for 85nm several months ago. I took the bike in for a headlight install and they also did this new software update 1.1.2.0. I never used walk assist yet. I do feel the motor power delivery is smoother than before. At...

    Broken Hanger :(

I thought it the hangers purpose was more sacrificial, as a hit on the derailleur can occur and breaking a hanger is much cheaper then if it was broken off the frame, which would likely need a new frame.

    Allant headlight blinking

I have an allant 9.9. Initially in the smartphone hub there was a button in the app to toggle the light on an off, it didn’t do anything because it is set to always on at the dealer. There must have been an update to the app because now this light switch button is gone. I have not updated my...

2020 Allant 9.9S Grinding Noise from motor or is it?

I’m happy with the bike, it was the best choice amongst the available options. I went ahead and changed out the hubs anyways, I’m not sure I had any noise issues yet, but I wanted new hubs anyways. The motor boost seems pretty substantial to me, you can really feel it. I almost think the old...

2020 Allant 9.9S Grinding Noise from motor or is it?

So far this noise has been pinpointed to the rear shimano XT hub. Otherwise for me, I have not had any other problems. I like everything else, carbon frame, high level components with a Bosch speed motor.

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

The new nyon really looks like a good product, I want to retrofit it on the allant to change out the smartphone hub. The wiring is the same, hopefully, I can just install it myself.

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

Kiox is a nice display with the advantage of a small size, the new nylon is basically a bigger version. The kiox does not dominate your handlebar like the smartphone and kiox and even the intuvia which is pretty big. As noted above they have similar features except you don’t need to put your...

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

Now I see some pictures of the kiox mount using the stem bolt. I think I will wait for the USA nyon. That seems to have a clamp handlebar mount like the smartphone hub and uses the same wiring. There is a supernova adapter for the nyon mount that mounts the M99 as well. The 9.9 proprietary stem...

    Over50's Trek Allant 9.9s Chronicles

Could you elaborate on the stock Kiox mount not being compatible with the allant 9.9. Is it different that then the smartphone hub mount that clamps on both sides of the stem to the handlebar? Also do you know if it required any programming by the dealer or was it just swapping in the hardware?

Supernova upgrade light on Vado 5.0

I just went through researching this as well. I think the m99 mini pro 45 is the way to go for most bikes. It’s less powerful then the full size m99 and it lacks a drl, but it will has low and high beam and pretty much acts like most lights on evokes meaning the low beam stays on all the time...

Apples to Apples? Bosch vs. Bafang Ultra

A fat bike is really a different case. Bicycles before motors were always designed to reduce weight and increase efficiency as much as possible because it was human powered only. Adding motors allows more flexibility in design. More features such as larger tires that add weight. The fat tire...

Apples to Apples? Bosch vs. Bafang Ultra

I have a Bosch Gen4 Speed motor on my bike. The power is good and even better now with the recent software update. It has been enough for any steep grades I encountered. Adding more power would not be a bad thing but I think going beyond this amount of power by a significant amount will cause...

Sorry about the accident, I hope you recover quickly. It reminds me, that small changes in the road and path can cause big issues

2020 Allant 9.9S Grinding Noise from motor or is it?

Industry nine hubs are good as well, they still have a ratchet noise but it’s quieter with quicker engagement then the stock shimano

    bosch nyon 2021 release date

I have a smartphone hub right now. Anyone know if I can upgrade to the nyon. I assume you can, just need to change out probably the controller and the mount?

    Trek Powerfly 5 FS 2021

I would say the Trek would likely be quickest to get seeing as you have a Trek dealer close by and I believe they have a main warehouse in Southern CA. When I got my allant it came from there and got to be dealer in like 2 days, this assuming it is in stock. However, The Bulls and Moustache are...

    Trek Powerfly 5 FS 2021

The big difference is both of those have gen4 speed motors which is great. However for a little more money it seems the Trek Powerfly 9 has a much higher level component set and Trek will likely be easier to service due to there network, at least in the US. Seems Trek went for more off road...

    Trek Powerfly 5 FS 2021

I think this will be a very good trail/cross country eMTB. For on road it will work well and be very comfortable. It is a bit heavy, but probably due to full suspension and also aluminum rather than a carbon frame. That probably keeps the price down though. I like that it has a full 12 speed...
