Joe Breeze made the first modern mountain bikes in 1977.Haibike was one of the pioneers of mountain ebikes, introducing them in Europe in 2010
You are correct as far as non-motorized mountain bikes are concerned. I specifically referred to electric mountain bikes, of which Haibike was the pioneer.Joe Breeze made the first modern mountain bikes in 1977.
Joe Breeze is an American bicycle framebuilder, designer and advocate from Marin County, California. An early participant in the sport of mountain biking, Breeze, along with other pioneers including Gary Fisher, Charlie Kelly, and Tom Ritchey, is known for his central role in developing the mountain bike. This is a good snapshot of a moment in time but the sands are dramatically shifting. With Accell collapsing it could be a sign of things to come as more Asian BTB brands come out of the shadows like XDS with 8 million or so bikes made each year. Both Giant and XDS produce frames and parts for Trek for example, muddying the picture in terms of volume. "May You Live In Interesting Times".![]()
Just to put into perspective.
Ha! saw a similar post under a vid from Cycling About explaining that Koga dropped his sponsorship. The poster said angrily maybe if he made more YT vids about the Koga bike they wouldn't have dumped him! Not that Koga were going bust at the time due to Accell woes...Kara Beal is sponsored by Haibike, she put out a vid explaining what she knows.
This comment on the video...just lol

Hadn't heard that. Oldest bike firm in the world. This plus Raleigh going, the oldest companies fading away, though Raleigh has really been a shell for years. I thought Bianchi were doing ok... then just last week Bahrain Victorious dumped them after just one year to turn to Factor bikes, seemed very odd. This explains it.just heard that Bianchi is also going into a chapter 11 procedure...
Or from Italian Chinese to British Chinese surely? Don't Factor have HQ in England? From Italian Chinese to Chinese Chinese.
I'm not sure. I thought that they had distributed administration worldwide.Or from Italian Chinese to British Chinese surely? Don't Factor have HQ in England?
I remembered something from when Chris Froome was their poster boy back in the Israel Premier tech days, just checked, and yes British company based in Norfolk, frames built in Taiwan. Offshoot of an F1 performance car engineering firm est. back in 2007. You live and learn.I'm not sure. I thought that they had distributed administration worldwide.
