Accell group goes bust; Raleigh, Haibike, Lapierre and others future in doubt.

indeed and also Dutech is still in the picture, led by Fierkens. Previously was at Specialized, CSG (Cannondale) and BCF (Ridley).

Quanta wants to take it all, Dutech wants to cherry pick.

I dont even know what a brand is supposed to be these days, they are all increasingly owned by private equity and are being cast aside when the money stips coming in.

People buy names, not cohesive companies built over time, inheriting talent with a contract to continue trust.

I have zero brand loyalty and neither do they.

This is the plot of Pretty Woman, but Julia aint coming to save them.

Meanwhile, Pinarello has been sold twice, first to a private equity arm of LVMH, then to a family-based private equity firm that is developing additional brands like Most Components, Princeton Wheels and Q36.5. The Pinarello family still holds a significant minority stake, and remains actively involved in the day to day operation of the company. Product quality is at or better than their historical level, all things considered.

The rest of the big names have all gone Pretty Woman in one way or another.

Like Specialized, I'm sure.
How about TREK?
Specialized's Mike Sinyard partnered with Merida (Centurion, Miyata) in the early 2000's, and stayed a majority shareholder and corporate leader of Specialized until 2022. I don't know if he still holds a stake in the company. It could be Pretty Woman, or maybe he simply retired.

Trek is still family owned and operated with little outside capital influence. They remain the Big Dog in this business.

JB doesn't own all of the shares of Trek, a few others own also a fair share. Even Lance has his till today.

And indeed lets see what either Quana or Dutech is going to buy in the next few weeks.... interesting times
