Now it will be interesting to watch how KKR approaches Haibike USA; aka Alta Cycling Group. Under Alta's stewardship, the progressive, innovative and multiple Haibike lineup of trekking and mountain bikes, was cut to just a literal handful of models. For over a year, the 2021 models were promised, but never delivered and now, to find one of those handful of US 2022 models through their very selective and short list of dealerships, is like finding a needle in a haystack. Not a single Yamaha PWX-2 or X3 to be found in the lineup, only the lower powered ST motor and at that, you would be getting a 500wh intube battery, not the latest 630wh from Yamaha. No Full FatSix for those who want a premium fat tired ebike. No NDuro models. No Yamaha powered All Mountain models. Compare the US lineup to that of what is listed in the Haibike german online catalog and it's a real study in contrasts that did not bode well for what Alta was doing to the brand in the US. Cutting and shrinking it into irrelevance, instead of growing it.

This sale to a private investor may have them looking to find or create another US distributor to build the brand in North America (a good thing, but they have lost so much market share and name recognition under Alta; as dozens of other premium ebike manufacturer's have filled the void created by Haibike USA's truncated lineup and spotty/indifferent dealership model)........ or it may spell the end of Haibike in the US altogether. Which would be a flat out shame.

From H-Bike USA's facebook page, a few quotes from H-Bike. Certainly does not sound like an optimistic company looking forward to growing in the future: "In terms of the future of Haibike in the USA coming to an end, we cannot speak to the parent company's future plans to distribute Haibikes" (Note: that quote by them was over 3 weeks ago, before the actual sale announcement posted linked above)......"Not every dealer will be receiving Haibikes, only select dealers. Some shops should continue to receive inventory in 2022" (Crazy Lenny, probably the biggest Haibike USA seller, does not list a single model in their online catalog today. Never listed a 2021 or 2022 model for sale, just stock they had on hand before that stock was sold off).........."That is all correct information, only select models will be available from dealers only in 2022. Unfortunately, the Xduro Nduro is not one of the available models."

That's the take out on the towpaths.....

Did not expect that but I hope they continue to make great quality products.
Their 2017/2018 products were all top-notch and once the Puello family left, the momentum kind of receded.
@Ravi Kempaiah: Fully agree on all points. Susanne Puello leaving H-Bike was the defining moment you can point to where the company from that point on, lost their way. The new company leadership squandered alot of good will trying to bring the Flyon models to market in Europe and that motor never made it here to the US. The US subsidiary caught alot of flak by H-Bike dealers, who found themselves undercut by H-Bike's USA bottom dollar Black Friday sales. And I'm not sure what it says about H-Bike USA's advertising budget as they have not posted an advertisement in Electric Bike Action Magazine for a couple years now. I wonder how much support the German parent company gave to it's US subsidiary. I suspect very little.
