With 125% tariffs, will the e-bike market die?

Most of the old measurements are based on powers or fractions of two (half inch, quarter inch, eighth inch, etc.).
The best thing about the United States in this matter is the sizes construction materials are made (powers of two). My Dad once helped his American friend add a floor to the friend's house and was amazed how easy that was.

On the other hand... 5,280 feet a statute mile? Seriously? :)

The metric system (and all of mathematics) would work a lot better if humans had 8 instead of 10 fingers and toes.
Pardon? I thought the metric system was based on the fact humans had 10 fingers and toes :)

Meanwhile, small plane pilots still argue about whether to use nautical miles and knots (which has advantages in navigation planning) or statute miles and mph (which makes explaining things to nonpilots easier).
What I cannot understand about the U.S. aviation is the barometric pressure is still given in inch Hg. Pilots all around the world (except Russian and Chinese domestic ones) learned using feet and knots. It is because it is just numbers (if for instance, the recommended speed is 250, it is just a number to maintain). It would be so easy for the U.S. pilots just accept the fact the physical atmosphere is 1,013 hPa, that's it. They need to use hPa abroad anyway!

The last interesting thing is Association Football (soccer). It is based on Imperial units as an English sport, and it caught everywhere except the U.S. Now, the distance of the penalty kick point to the goal is 12 yards. The whole world knows it is eleven metres... :) No one thinks of soccer in terms of feet or yards!

Ice hockey would be better on a 100 meter pitch/rink. Why do we even have ice hockey in Florida and Vegas? The Canadians have not won the championship since '93, and why do they even play in July. I used to watch hockey live when it was the same temp in C as F, -40 outside.

You have to resist metric America, once thats in place it will be baguettes in McDonalds and everyone trying to get on the bus at the same time.
OK maybe the second bit has already started.

As if U.S. McDonald's were anything good 😊 Come to Poland Chris, you'll learn something new 😊

Tell me without calculating what 1/8 mile would be in feet. Probably you have memorized that?
660'? but I love the metric system, hectares and things like that are easy and you can figure out things easy a "long ton" is simply 1000 kilos while the short ton is simply sorta metric 2000# the beat goes on,in the US road construction is done in tenths of a foot( till you get to bridge, inches and feet again-there is a reason, bye now starting to get anxious.

the French set the standard meter way back when,I forget exactly and the particulars, volume and distance is easy with the metric system,I believe weight is actual mass, very helpful, weight as we know is based on a gravitational attraction of around 32 fps(English) as I understand it,when you start measuring thing apothecary things get interesting something like 7000 grains to the English pound( my stomach is starting to flop around,I better quit(YMMV or litres to the "click" please do all your calculations on "Zulu" time.

Now you can understand how shitty it is in its home country, compared :)
a lump a day in the old"belly"( that's actually how it feels to me,I generally bypass McDonalds( shouldn't it be MacDonalds?(son of Donald-big"Mac",not Mick-I am proudly "son of Cune" whatever that means-variants include McWing,Ewing ad nueseam, think I will just go and see "Daves daughter(better food in my opinion anyway) ah the humanity(tangents) have a good day sojourner!

Mass is kg, force is N (newton) or 1 kg * m/s^2. Gravity is 9.81 m/s^2. If someone says "I'm 100 kg" they mean their body mass, or the old unit kG (9.81 N)

( shouldn't it be MacDonalds?(son of Donald-big"Mac",not Mick-
I don't know. The brand was born in the U.S. :) Why aren't you MacCune?

perhaps anglicized? many names were except for Jones,Johnson and Smith eg; my cousin inlaws family changed their surname from Kambata to Cambata when they fled India. So you agree metric system is better? mass and weight are not the same weight is a function of gravitational attraction, you go to the moon with mass units( which the US did a couple of times thanks to a Nazi)

On Aliexpess I've started seeing this on products/sellers I've purchased from before.

The metric system is somewhat based on water at sea level. One liter is one kilogram of water, and a centimeter is the space of one cubic gram of water. One thousand cubic grams of water in a line makes a meter and would weigh a kilo. Water freezes at zero and boils at 100. When it is about 22 that is a nice day for a ride.
I do not use AliExpress but just looked. Shipping fees for a bike motor from Hong Kong are $100 because they are declaring its value at $69. It is all nuts.
