Well we made it through another trip around the sun, anyway. The English Heritage group is streaming the winter solstice live since no one can go there this year. I'd like to see it again, but apparently it's only on Facepalm. For those who can tolerate that, enjoy.
Edit . Found a you tube link. About 3am EST.

And to all ... A Good Night.

You could leave off the "for six months" part ... but the older I get the more Pagan and less Presbyterian I become. I think I could be happy with just 4 Holidays per year...the solstice and the equinox haven't been ruined yet ...

Know what you mean. The last two I'll be whining about the heat and hunting shade ...and for three more months after that.

Yeah, well at least you don't get buried in snow. Although those 100 degree plus days would get old fast.

You know me better than that. Facepalm is designed to sell, and I'm not selling nothin' anymore.

I interact with friends on FB. The type of carrier does not matter to me. I'm a story-teller and FB was just made for me :) Although I call that medium derisively "fejzbuk" with reference to a rotten egg :)

Sorry @Stefan Mikes. You deserve a better answer than that. I resent the fact the network database technology is mostly used to make Zuck and others like him rich. Although I have an account under ArtDecoHQ, I have never really used it. Just like my twitter account and so many others (Hubpages, Blogger, and many more), I didn't like where they were going. Yeah, a curmudgeon.

The deal is you don't pay for using FB ;)
Let us talk on the Winter Solstice! I've quite forgotten the 21st of December is the one with the longest night. I used to associate Christmas Eve with the longest night! Now, Monday means only 7 hours and 41 minutes of daylight for me!

Yes, you get the really short days. But it gets better quickly, IIRC. And here the Solstice is completely overshadowed by the "Christmas" season. To me it feels like "hump day" an American expression for Wednesday meaning we are halfway or "over the hump". I like that.

It is so interesting. For instance, some say the Winter Solstice is the first day of Winter. Meteorologists disagree. I disagree, too. Winter begins at the end of November here.

My wood pile says its Mid Winter. The 20 inches of snow on top of it agrees. Another 20 inches expected before Christmas. But Spring is coming.BTW "fejzbuk" in a search engine only brings up links to Facepalm ($$$) not rotten eggs. And No I don't use Scroogle anymore either ...

When I was a kid Christmas Eve was the longest night of the year, or at least it seemed so. 🙄

I do enjoy the Winter Solstice. It means Spring is coming, again!
