Why do I always know better?

This one carries 440 pounds on the rack. 750W, Mid, 48v, 10.5Ah, 90Nm. 11:36 cassette to 42-T ring. 28Mph. Torque sensor. I made it today. After the afternoon's test ride it needs a minor derailleur adjustment. Check the HB connectors and wires.
Which mid-drive with a torque sensor?
One heck of a loong bike, but impressive cargo capacity! :)

I am just a small town bike mechanic trying to survive a global pandemic without killing someone's grandmother. Not all that special. I just made this one today. It is a 2015 worth about $300. Now it climbs like an animal with a 10-42 cassette and does 28 on the flats. The guy was supposed to pick it up 45 minutes ago. That's why I am stalling on a beautiful Sunday sitting at a computer. I will give him another 15.

I think the phrase is " old school" rather than " small town" ? aka someone with the diversity / skills to think outside the box .

I'm intrigued by the idea of a coaster brake combined with nexus hub - we have a family friend with similar limitations and your solution might be a lot better than mine ( automatic jump to high cost hydraulics with lever reach adjustment and huge discs....)

The RX-RC5 hub is heavy-duty. Ideal for a powerful motor. You do not need the little incremental steps of ratios when you have power to smooth things out. Shifting all the time is a pain in the butt. And he can shift at a stop. An extension lever can easily be attached to the shifter.
Then use the new 1-speed chain from KMC that is made for powerful eBikes. It is super robust and wide. Just my opinion. That person already has her bike with the Nexus and loves it but is intimidated by San Francisco hills. It is coming in tomorrow afternoon.
