What lock(s) are Hyrda friendly?

While I wait for my Hydra, I'm looking around for accessories. A good lock is one of them.
I guess I'd have to carry it in the pack. So that's one thing to consider.

99% of the time I have no desire to leave her outta my sight. However, a lock is still good to have when I wanna grab a coffee or something.

Tracker (like the TK419) are a good ultimate tool, but not a deterrent. You still want something to limit the chances someone will take the bike.
Unless you live for the thrill of thief chasing :)

Not sure what exists in Canada for such tracking purposes

I never leave my bike alone. I have too much money invested to leave it unattended. If I need to go somewhere and I know I’ll be inside for an extended period of time I drive my car. If a professional thief wants your bike it’s as good as gone.

Yes, I get that. However, I am still looking for a lock recommendation for those times where I need to run in for 5 minutes to grab a coffee or something along those lines

The TK419 works anywhere as you can use your own SIM card.
There is a long thread on this forum about GPS trackers, and in the middle of it @TomD has provided quite a bit of feedback on it

tracker page

Default App and Platform page (you can use a lot of different tracking platform with it if you don't like the one they provide)

I've been using an Abus 6500 for nearly 7 years. It combines security with ease of carry/use.

Enjoy the ride and enjoy a nice lunch or a cold drink.

Watching the Lock Picking Lawyer on YouTube has me skeptical about literally every lock in existence now LOL. I have to remember that he's very skilled and that most street thieves probably don't have the skill or the tools to pick most bike locks, but I have had a few friends have their bikes stolen recently. I am probably just going to get a high quality one and try not to let the bike out of my sight if I need to lock it up.

The Kryptonite New York lock series have some sort of reimbursement guarantee if your bike gets stolen, I'm not sure how easy the process is but supposedly you submit a receipt and picture of you with your bike and you can get up to $5,000 back.

I was recently on a long ride on my expensive carbon road bike and I had to stop at a visitors' center to use the bathroom. The single person bathroom had an outside door, so I brought my bike in with me.
There wasn't much room to move around but there was no way I was going to leave my bike outside.

From what people have reported these Lock insurances are basically a scam.
They make you jump through so many hoops, that your chances to getting anything from them is close to null

Just a tip if your worried about paint damage put mastic tape or bike Armour where your lock goes around your frame when locked up

Left over from my motorcycle days I use a kryptonite cable cycle lock. Used it on cycle over night trips where I would lock to another Harley so 2 bikes are connected. It’s a 1/2~5/8 inch steel flexible cable that is coated so nothing is scratched. Probable no longer made currently. Sort of a PITA to carry for it’s bulky and does not coil up very tight. Fits OK in my small trunk bag strapped to my bike rack. I’m sure it’s defeatable and can be cut with cordless tools but it won’t be cut in 60 seconds or not without some ruckus being made.

That's kind of what I figured, but I have seen a few actual examples of reimbursement from Kryptonite on Reddit
