While swapping bars one of the fragile little hinges on one of the display clamps broke.

Priority says I have to buy a new CB01 display for $90. But of course know that there is some factory in Wuxi with a bin of these that cost them penny’s a copy.

But if I have to buy a new display, I’d sooner get an upgrade. Any know of sources for the Truckrun CC03/05 or other compatible displays?

What about a little two part epoxy from the dollar store.

I have a variety of glues including two part epoxies, but plastics can be really hard to get adhesion to depending on what plastic. Some things like polyethylene are impossible to glue and require thermal welding. I’m guessing this might be nylon, maybe ABS, both also hard to glue, especially since the surface area is so small. If I knew what it was made of I might be able to melt on a glob and the sculpt the shape and hole v

I can't see the back of the display where the broken clamp attaches, but I've fixed a few handlebar accessories using these clamps:

Some plastics are indeed difficult to glue or epoxy but I've had good luck with this JB Weld product:

Admittedly, it doesn't work every time. When it doesn't, I look for a place on the back of the accessory where I can drill & tap or make a thru hole for a nut & bolt and use the above clamp.

Never seen those clamps before and there is a wide variety on Amazon. The mount has a lot mass and I’m sure I could cut stuff off and shape to make these work.

I may try the plastic bonder, that JB is one I’ve had some sucess with in the past. I used to work as a movie prop master where one often gets asked to fix or fabricate almost anything. I would carry about 20 rolls of different types of tape and a dozen adhesives. But the adhesion failures far outweigh the successes in my memory.

Thanks so much for the excellent references!

I got some of the JB plastic bonder which is urethane based, and plan to thicken it with some powdered charcoal then stick a glob on the broken end and shape it. Could end up almost perfect, but could just be split by the roll pin. Gonna try to mold it around some cylinder the same D as the pin and in the remains of the hole then remove it before I shape. A pencil lead might be perfect. I’m concerned whatever release I put on the actual pin might contaminate the boding surface and that even then the glue might bond to the split in the pin. Maybe a wf40 straw, I’ll dig through my junk bins with my calipers.

FWIW, AI Google says the clamp is almost certainly ABS, which is kinda good cause acetone can dissolve ABS making a chemical weld. Now my plan it to cut and shape a small piece or ABS pipe and weld it on.

If it were me, I would just fill the hole with JB Weld and drill it out to the proper diameter afterward. I think you would get a stronger bond that way
