Jeremy - You mean as a gen classification rider? He would never be one. Too big boned/heavy for the high altitudes. Same with Van Aert. One Day classic riders. That's why Van Der Poel has become Philipsen's lead out man and Van Aert a bodyguard for Jonas, or a powerful train engine for Yates in the Giro. It's why genetically, there are only a few riders who have the unique traits to win in the high mountains. Even fewer who can also win against the clock on the flat. Very rare combination. Everyone is waiting to see if Remco can ever win against Jonas and Pog on the highest of high alpine roads. It looks doubtful. His plan I think is to keep on their coattails but win the TT and hope they have a bad day and he doesn't. As we see each year it never goes fully to plan for every top rider so there is always a chance circumstance will throw up a lifeline. It's also why for Remco, yesterday's snafu by losing time could have killed any chance for GC on day 1. They are already suggesting the time he lost would be his winning time in the TT, nullifying it.
