ToSeven DM Series Mid Motors

Well the motor has been out for two years. I just ordered my first today. To answer @Gionnirocket 's question earlier, it is endlessly programable through the display. It is really cool. I posted a user's manual. The cable will let you clone a display that you have dialed in. Then the display will program the controller of the second bike. I got the smaller/lighter 500W DM02 at 90Nm because it is going on a bike with a Nexus Hub and I don't want to kill the internal gears. The company wants me to be an authorized service provider. The front loader cargo trike will be used at low speeds on the flats making deliveries.

Just to make it easy here is that programing manual for one of five displays. Fair Warning: If you are a geek or a dork this is programmer explicit hardcore geek porn and you may want to avoid it because of the associated unrequited hardness or wetness issues depending on gender identities.

Don't tell anyone this tip: Pack that e-ffer with this plumber's grease, high temp. with nano-ceramic beads. it is related to the stuff that is used in sink faucets and race car brakes. Super slick. It lasts for years. Again, Do not tell anyone. Those motors come under packed. The stuff lubes and prevents water intake. It also seals the 0-rings with silicone plumber's grease like on a juiced Barry Bonds hitting streak.

Update. I swapped in Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes, Shimano Cues cues setup with RD-U8000 derailleur, SL-U8000-11R Shifter, CS-LG700-11 Cassette, and CN-LG500 chain. I also ditched the Rockshox Dart 3 with 28 mm stanchions for a spare Suntour XCT30 with 30 mm stanchions. The ride is so much more stable at speed and enjoyable, I'd have to measure to see if the Suntour fork has less off offset at the crown and more at the wheel, but it looks like it. I also swapped on the wheels from my Ozark Trail Ridge since the hubs and tires were in such better shape (new). The bike feels amazing. The lack of rebound on the Suntour is irritating, but I may swap in a Wolftooth GeoShift 2 degree headset with a Rockshox Recon when I have more money to burn.

I'm testing some of the AliExpress saddles that seem to get good reviews, namely the Bucklos clone of the S-Works Power Mirror and a Zeius. I have new rotors and pads on order, going to try some sintered metallic pads. I need some shorter screws for my front caliper... lol. I have a shorter stem from the OTR also, I may swap that in too.

I love the printed saddle!

Greetings! Thanks for your interest in our DM mid-drive motors. We would like to inform you that our motor kit comes with a customized 46T chainring which is specifically designed for our DM01 motor, without any offset. However, if you decide to use any other sizes of flat chainring, it will come with an offset of 9MM. And please note that our DM mid drive motor is directly installed at the bottom bracket of the bicycle, so you don't need worry about wheel size.

Regarding the speed of our DM mid-drive motor, we kindly recommend you to watch the relevant videos of high voltage. If you wish to replace the customized 46T crankset with a flat crankset of a different size, please confirm with us when placing order, we will replace it for you. Once again, thank you for considering our product.
Hi, I have a 1000w DM01, and the motor appears to be operating on a cadence sensing basis rather than Torque Sensing. The motor also runs on quite a bit. Should I go into the menus and select Factory Reset or can you advise the correct speed settings etc for the controller and torque sensor. The firmware version has not been updated and still has the Eco, City and Sport options (not M1 and M2) all of which have been set to 30amps. Running it on 48v. Thanks in advance, Rowen.

@Rowen,
You need a programing cable and to download the malware riddled programing firmware. It is all totally programable. I had one fail through display programing and may need to buy a dedicated offline PC. I do not want to have my online PC be involved. They sent me a programing cable which I gave away. Now another is on the way.

@PedlUma thanks for your thoughts. Yes I don’t want to download onto my PC either. I’m just wondering if there are default settings available then? regards Rowen

Getting into a display is tricky. If you can do it, most things can be programed. The first part is to find the page with the codes. You program the display and it then flashes the controller.

Yes the access is simple - power + up together then code 1234 to get into the first menu then Up and Down buttons together then code 1234 to get to the advanced menu where default settings could be entered if I know what they ought to be. Mainly for the PAS, Speed and Power, and Torque Sensor. The rest are as they were. Also chain line is an issue with this motor - quite off on the inside low gearing really. Probably better suited to a 7 speed block than 9 which I have at present. regards Rowen

I have used this stuff for years. Bendix makes a better product yet, but it has been impossible to find lately.

I have the T244-V1 display - is it essentially the same? No default option in its menu though and many more variable options to do with PAS and Torque Sensor. Thanks Rowen

This may explain my problem with trying to access with my T134 controller. I have been using the up and down buttons together after power up, as I noted on youtube videos.

The motor kit did not come with any information and a visit to ToSeven's website was not much help. I left a request on the page but have heard nothing back from them.

Johnny Nerd Out is checking into info on a manual, cables and programming etc.

I have installed the DM01 on an 11 speed and the chain alignment issues may be too much to deal with. I have an offset chainwheel on the way and will have to try a much tougher rear gear set as my current lightweight ones are getting tweaked about in the higher gears. Potentially time for a geared hub, the motor seems to have plenty of power to deal with fewer gears.

I got the 42 offset chain ring with my Dmo2 kit from the start and glad I did. Chain line if perfect.

The woman, I guess she is, that replied to my problems with toseven was of no help. I will continue with bafang and cyc in the future. My reply from her was kinda like so sorry for your problem thank you for buying our product and let us know if you need help. Hell! Lady what do you think the letter I sent you explaining the defective parts was generated for. Can`t we make anything here anymore. Thanks to Johnny N.O. for the display. I feel for him having to deal with toseven on problems. I will also give a praise to Matt at BMW for expediting the repairs on my cyc photon. 5 days out and back with no shipping charges. That is service. Toseven`s crap response two times for me is no good and sours me on their product. I have one that`s enough.
I have sent 2 requests and have not had a single reply back.. Why go to the trouble to make and market a product and drop the ball at service? Shooting themselves in the foot with bad PR.

I have waited a month to get a programing cable. Now I cannot use it because of the imbedded malware. I cannot open it. Webroot shuts it down. I have a very expensive boat anchor that is not mine, but a clients. I will email again to ask for a clean version.

There is a ToSeven section on the High Voltage discord. There are two reps in there I think, as well as the owner of California Ebike, who is a distributor.
I have not had any issues with the firmware files, but I get the hex files from the discord server normally. I have had other flashing software flagged by Windows as malware, it's not uncommon. It also doesn't like hex files.

I took down a firewall and downloaded it. Then ended with an Access Violation at address 00403ADC. It would connect to the MCU and restart it. Then it shows a connect fail with a pop up showing the violation at that address . EXE reading 00000000.

I didn't have any issues once I set the comm port on my machine. The process is not as straight forward as it should be IMHO. I'm using Windows 11 Pro even though it's not supported as my other laptop is a MacBook.
