Tire repacement

I will be putting on a new rear tire on my Izip Path. Does the tire need to be specified for an electric assist or will a regular bicycle tire suffice? Thank you

Have had a lot of success with the various Schwalbe Marathon+ tires especially with the riders who do more trails. There's also some decent Continentals out there too with more tread and kevlar lining for some other options.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires suck. Put about 1500 miles on them and they look brand new and not one flat. In fact they have not lost any air. Very boring tire.

Mmm…I love that kind of boring. I've got a pair of Marathon Plus tires waiting for me to mount on my Optibike Pioneer Allroad, aka the Grey Ghost.
I was gonna' wait until the stock CSTs wore out, but I think I'll mount these puppies sooner rather than later.
I've got a pretty hot descent on my route with a pair of sweeping curves and the CSTs are clearly at their cornering limits (going > 30 mph in those esses). Since discretion is the better part of valor, when I get a rainy day—so I can't commute to work on the eBike—they're going on.
I've got a technical question for you 86 and still kicking: I've heard these Schwalbe sneakers are a bear to mount. Did you use any marital aids like dish soap? Inquiring minds want to know.

Changing tires was a snap. I rode the bike into my local dealer where two mechanics worked together to remove the rear wheel. Once the wheels were off the bike, 4 employees (2-techs and 2-sales people) simultaneously used 8 tire irons to pry the tires off of one wheel....repeat for second tire. I remember a number of melodious phrases coming from the group................"you SOB, you MF'r, WTF, JFC."..............Easy Peazy!

Mounting new tires was the same process in reverse, ironically with the same melodious phrases.

The bike was delivered back to me in tip top shape with a friendly hand written note suggesting I patronize the shop down the road next time.......
