I have purchased an Onway foldable 20 inch 7 speed electric bike but have not yet taken delivery. Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with this bike?

Hi Tina, found your Onway foldable 7 speed bike on Amazon, so this bike is coming directly from a manufacturer in China. Amazon shows it as currently unavailable, so I'm curious if you have actual shipping information on your ebike? The info there doesn't indicate what brand of motor you have; however, if the specs are correct, the Lithium battery pack comes from Samsung and that's a safe, high quality battery. Also, the description mentions a Shimano Nexus internal geared rear hub which is a nice, quiet, easy to shift system and that's a plus.

Sounds like a decent basic setup and we would all like to hear more about it once it arrives. If you have some local bike shops nearby, contact them about help assembling the bike or for future service; it's handy to have that connection worked out before the bike arrives and you need the help. :)

Hi Ann,

I have a delivery date of September 7, by 8pm. I chose this brand because I require a step through frame that has a seat post adjustment so my feet can touch the ground while sitting. The specs appeared good to me, but I did notice that after I purchased the bike, suddenly, these bikes came off the market! Hope that doesn't mean anything.....! I will post again once I receive the bike. Now I need to find a shop that works on e-bikes here in the desert of SOuthern California. Thanks for your input and advice

@Tina, electric bikes have been around long enough now, that barring misleading information about the battery, you should be ok. There can be a lot of variation in the quality of the bike frames and basic bike components as well as the electronic controller and other ebike specific parts, so from that perspective the bike is a bit of an unknown. It will be interesting to hear about the bike once it arrives (Wed!):)

What cities or towns are near you? Members here may be able to help you locate a shop reasonably close to you. Also, give Amazon or wherever you purchased the bike a call and ask why the bike isn't available anymore. After the issues with self balancing scooters last Christmas, Amazon has been a bit more cautious about electric vehicles.
