Don't know mate, you'd have to ask the plant operators.

Given it's new tech I'm guessing it's prohibitively expensive per ton, and leans heavily on Iceland's abundant geothermal energy, water supply and unique geology.

The only prediction I'll dare to venture is if the process finds a market cost will drop and efficiency will improve. Otherwise, interesting experiment.
If it's a failure they'll have to make a lot of them to make up for it.

Now don't any of you Greenies go and tell Tom because he has his blocks and luvs' em.
I had a crash yesterday in freezing weather with ice and slush on the roads. Suddenly the rear wheel slid out from under. I had always remembered Tom's metaphor of using his leg as "outriggers" and that is what I was doing at the time. Seat lowered all the way so I could put feet flat on the ground. Very glad that my bike has a throttle so I could ride without pedaling. So the bike went fully snake and about 18 inches from it laying flat, I let go of the bike and just stepped over and out.

DON'T RAT ME OUT, Greenies!

The economic effects of climate change and the pandemic hitting supply chains (dumbed down for CNN, but a useful summary).

"Although the pandemic will eventually end, climate change is here to stay. ... And the already battered global supply chains will be on the front lines ... That's bad news for the rampant pandemic-era inflation that Americans have had to get used to during Covid."

Fear over covid and lack of leadership and use of conventional medicine has placed us in this place we sit.

This has evolved from the shutdowns.. When 60% of Americans were eating out and started eating in it devoured the supply... We are one season behind on supplies so here we are .. One season later... Man made crisis.

Treatments that work have been shunned for use against covid. Cheap meds dont make them any money. Take a look at Africa.. Low vaccination rate.. Herd immunity seems to be working? Speaking of Herd, they have been giving Ivermectin for treatments and its working .. Maybe the herd paste has its place.

I always advise to and take my medical cues from Africa.

The success of our economy is predicated upon Americans consuming. As long as that is our model, climate change is going to take a back seat (a WAY back seat). If we were all to stop consuming, or even to significantly cut back on consuming, the US economy (and much of the world's economy) would crash. I don't know how we get out of this...

Inflation, inevitable. Raise minimum wage & Wall Street will just raise prices to neutralize any progress.
God is money & a living wage is heresy. Gotta keep those uppity serfs under the thumb. What would the
world be like without massive public debt? ¨I fear that banking institutions are a greater threat to our liberty
than any standing army.¨ - Thomas Jefferson

When they Print print print and more printing of money... Spend spend spend.. this is what happens.

D & H are out of my line of sight, but someone pointed out that comments were made about Israel. I subscribe to Haaretz. Seems these two continue to spew disinformation. News by meme and single source is dangerous. The parochial education I received was often a disappointment, but we DID learn to read and not just one extreme side OR the other. We learned to read ALL we can and then use critical thinking skills. Missing form the trolls.

Ivermectin indeed...

In the last week, the daily number and the rate of coronavirus infection have started to reverse course.
Israel's ageist COVID policy
Omicron wave begins receding in Israel, but Bennett says hospitals still overloaded
Proof of vaccination not effective in battling omicron, Israeli experts warn
The R number, which represents the average number of people each coronavirus carrier infects, dropped further below 1, indicating declining spread for the first time since early November. The number, representing data from ten days prior, stands at 0.94.

On Sunday, Israel recorded 74,312 new infections, an increase after six days of consecutive decline. However, the moving average is still continuing its downward trend.

Maybe this will help some.

Well dam, unless we come up with a new, more deadly strain, we´ll have to find another way to
cull the herd. What with the bulk of money in geriatric hands trickle-down economics is at it´s all
time worst.

If there are actual differences stemming from genetic or environmental differences in populations then it would be rather stupid and callous to disregard what goes on for others in the world.

Simple, just do what capitalism does best and create some demand. The marketplace, investment, jobs, etc will follow.

ie: Is that laptop made using carbon neutral manufacturing processes? Does that car power my house when my panels are dormant? Was that cow fed seaweed to cut the methane emissions?

A carbon trading scheme is one powerful step in that direction. Anyone seen or read anything interesting of late on the cost of inaction versus action?
