I have looked thru the majority of Riser and Steering Tube Extender Threads. I'm posted in the Specialized Section because my question pertains to Vados . The ones with the Specialized stem that carries the light Bracket on the faceplate .
If I put an Aftermarket Stem on . Is there anyway I can use the OEM faceplate on the aftermarket stem? I assume since it's 2 separate clamps I can. I know I can buy a steering tube extension to raise my bars . Which is all I really want to do . It just looks so cobbled to use the delta tube extension . The Satori one would look better . Although the one it appears they offer is a tad to high for the Stem setup on the Vado.
I know that Specialized offers a Stem that has the light bracket .

Like I said earlier I've read thru the majority of Stem Type Threads . I also see where someone else asked about using the Stock OEM faceplate with another companies stem. And nobody answered it . Yet I see pictures where they are using their lights in the same area off the stem. So I assume you can use the Oem faceplate on certain Aftermarket stems . Just trying to confirm that is true ? Has anyone done so ? Thanks much

Uh, I don't know. I have never tried replacing a Specialized stem with any aftermarket one. I've just used an aftermarket stem riser/extender but kept the stem. And I've never analysed how the light bracket might have interfaced with the stem.

While it may be possible to mix and match stem faceplates. The faceplate bolt spacing on stems is not standardized and you would need to somehow find one that matches. The Vado SL stem has slot for the light and computer bracket but I assume you are refering to a different model. "Vado" has become a range of different models with different features and we probably need to be more specific which one we are talking about.

Especially, there are too many variants for full power Vados from different model-years.

Thanks : I am aware of the bolt size difference . If the thread patter matches I can always cut the bolt . I purchased my Vado in Nov 2020 . It had just come in to the LBS along with 6 Vado Sl models . From the current Specialized webpage . My Vado has the Stem as pictured on the Vado 5 . Which limits my options. I didn't realize Specialized had such a frequent change in their Stem designs . It appears it would be easier to purchase the stem offered for the Vado Sl . I was hoping I could get away with purchasing just an extension . Since raising the height works far better then pulling the angle back . In my experience that does very little to raise the handlebars . Looks like No such luck . Hey thanks again

Hey thanks: I was not aware of this prior to posting a thread . I could see on your YT Video the light appeared attached . I assumed since you had a Vado 5 it was the same as mine. It appears I can swap out my current stem with what's offered on the Vado SL. I believe 70 mm is the length of my current one. Then I could get an extension for the steering to and be GTG . Thank you for responding
PS: What is so difficult about changing the Front Brake Line ? Have you ever tried it ?

No, it is a totally different light: Supernova M99 Pro. That powerful headlight is required for S-Pedelecs (45 km/h e-bikes) by European law.

No : I saw the Delta riser link you posted . I far prefer the Satori matte black from an aesthetics appeal . Did I read you changed your Front brake cable ? That appears to be a viable option for the DIYer

PS: What is so difficult about changing the Front Brake Line ? Have you ever tried it ?

Not sure what model of bike you’re referring to but on mine - a Turbo Vado SL 5 EQ - it’s a hydraulic brake line. That requires a few special tools to change such as a vacuum pump I believe. Anyways the bike shop had to lengthen my hose as well as derailleur cable requiring an removal/replacement of the battery and motor. My rise was large though - 150mm.

Since that post had been published, Specialized replaced that very stem with another Specialized one, holding completely different light. So always keep and use your original Specialized stem. However, the stem is completely unimportant in this equation, as the stem riser fits ANY stem of A-HEAD type. So you re-use the existing stem and only raise it by mounting the extender to the steering tube and also mounting the steam on the top of the extender/riser.
