I know this will be a very narrow appeal topic but I am posting it for any future searchers that have the same issue as I had. That issue is that I have a recently acquired 2019 Super Commuter+ 7 that so far suits me well on about every level. However after riding a it a bit now I found that I would like the bars a bit closer and higher so I set off to find a suitable stem in what I calculated for my my need as a 17* x 90mm size. Trek offered the Elite stem in that size so I was getting closer. The only stumbling block was how to remount the stock Supernova Mini 2 headlight. The stock stem, listed in the spec as a Bontrager Elite stem, and is a 7* x 110mm has a 28mm x 40mm faceplate with a built in mount for that light. Trek advised that all Elite stems used the same hole pattern, even though they offered two, so I took a swing at a used one. Unfortunately the used Elite stem I found was not a match for that hole spacing. It looks to have something like a 31mm x 40mm spacing. Perhaps if I had bought Trek direct I would have been better off since 28 x 40 is a size they offer.
So, that sets me up to solve my light mount issue, and I prefer to have it in its original location. And to tell you that the standard BLENDR insert can be pretty easily modified to use as the mount for this light, and possibly other applications. The standard BLENDR system mount has a center 'finger' if you will. By carefully removing that middle section and slightly widening the remaining gap by filing or sanding a slight bit equally from both sides of the remaining outside sections, the Supernova light will slide right in and tighten securely. The original mounting screw is too short to work without further mount modification but an M5 nut will fit that cutout and an M5 screw cut to size completes the needs. For the screw I had on hand I had to turn the screw head and remove a slight bit of material to fit into the recess. Came out beautifully and should serve me well.
