It was far too windy for a ride today so my better half and I decided to get an earlier start than usual on our two community organic garden plots. We spent the entire morning and a solid part of the afternoon pounding in 30, 8’ steel posts and wrapping the entire perimeter with fabric mesh to keep the deer out. It wasn’t over then as we finished up by hand forking and raking six veg plots to prep them for sowing tomorrow.

A beaver dam has been part of the wetlands down below the plots for several years now and it’s a wonderful spot to view local wildlife including frogs, water fowl, birds of prey and the odd beaver/muskrat.

My wife and I have been volunteers assisting the “RV Unplugged Rally” in Athens, TX. This is a YouTube production. Lots of fun all week for the talent and attendees. Last night was the finale and the winner announced for a $10,000 prize.

That isn't Mt. St. Helens, that looks like Silverstar east of Battle Ground, WA. Mt. St. Helens has its flanks completely covered in snow right now. I couldn't get a picture of it today while I was on I-5 today as I was the only one in the car.

FWIW, when I lived in Battle Ground we knew when all the snow was gone from Silverstar, we knew it was safe to plant the garden and not have any frost kill the plants.

Here is a link to a webcam pointed at the mountain https://www.usgs.gov/media/webcams/johnston-ridge-observatory-webcam-mount-st-helens.

I was wondering its the right direction.

This fellow did a nice job turning his 1960s Schwinn cruiser into an Ebike. Although I am not a big hub motor fan, I really appreciate his sensabilities and it seems like the only reasonable way to retrofit a vintage bike with a motor. Notice the discreet wiring and upgraded brakes. View attachment 153040
This is the guy I found on the side of the road yesterday I'm sure. Ain't no two bikes like that...
Anyway, he had a flat in the rear and was unable to find the puncture.
Nice guy. I think he now realizes that with his weight and the batteries in that rear pannier it's just too much for the poor wheel.
He had the wheel redone with the biggest spokes possible and a new rim. I found him not 10 minutes into his first ride with the new wheel.
He's now thinking hard about mid drives and tubeless. :)

This is very frightening but I cannot look away. I really wished I could do that big jump ( Ithink I could be satisfied to try to keep my hands and feet on the bike whilst in the air ...haha!)
I would be the first qualifier on the next episode of Pinkbike Friday Fails for sure. My only request would be that an ambulance and emt be on stand by.

Pretty cool before and after pics of Mt St Helens. I have only seen it from the air after the eruption and it's breath taking...

I think our dogs like the trailer but they are always trying to get out. our bulldog mix is the worst. I have made reinforced straps that are short. but after so much tugging today he was able to get his front feet right at the edge then saw another dog and tried to jump out. flipping the trailer. I dont think he hurt himself but it was crazy. We went right to the pet store to get one of those spiked collars to stop him pulling so much. the problem is he is long enough its hard for him to fit if he is back far enough not to get out.
