That retaining wall is made of test cylinders, the round things. Those are taken off a concrete truck into a plastic mold, allowed to cure, then broken normally to determine the strength of the concrete. Those were never broken but the plastic mold was removed.

They remind me of the drill cores from testing the bedrock for building a massive structure such as a dam.

Smoke from the wildfires has been hanging heavily in the air for the past couple of days so rides have been kept short.

I spotted this flyloader clinging on to the front fork of my bike which is where it stayed for almost the entire trip. Little bugger.

Well, it’s definitely on my no-fly list now. I might add that it’s possible that it was mistakenly hitching a ride on the wrong animal if, in fact, it was a horsefly.
