Foofer....OH YEAH you captured that perfectly! I regularly run a 5-10 km gauntlet along the beach which is chock- a- block full of these deaf serepentine joggers. I especially like it when they are using the clearly separated bike path portion of the MUP and have a dog on the one side while they all the way across on the other side with the leash stretched out blocking the whole thing and have their earbuds cranked. The Coup De Grace is when they yell after me something like " Slow down ...and a bell would be nice! " when of course I rang it several times
I rarely ride the MUPs here and only do so when I’m transitioning to a trailhead but, yeah, this happens almost every time I’m on them. It doesn’t help when they have their earbuds on even if you call out to them. Need something to distract them like your wife's air horn.

Foffer, you would have been ok to reach out and smack her on the head as you rode by.

He needs to add one of these to the stuff he carries.

After owning my Quad Surface604 E-bike a year, I can’t tell you how impressed I am. Surface604 is an amazing e-bike manufacturer. I am so impressed by the quality, durability, style, and functionality of the product. The bike is solid and easy to ride, and the battery life is incredible (I upgraded to the 20amp battery); I can go for days without needing to recharge. After riding my bike for over 4,000 miles, I appreciate the excellent components used and the detail that went into designing the bike; it looks great and provides a smooth and comfortable ride. The Customer Service has been top-notch too (Thank you Phil!); they answer all your questions, provide helpful advice and assist in part replacement when required (most times in less than 24 hours). I highly recommend Surface604 to anyone looking to upgrade their ride!
I've had a Surface 604 V Rook for 3 months now. No real basis for comparison, as this is my first ebike, but I echo your sentiments -- especially about the customer service.

Called the service line twice about somewhat complicated technical questions not covered in the manuals. The LBS dealer couldn't answer them, either. Both times, left a detailed message and got a call the next morning -- from a very knowledgeable rep in Vancouver who totally understood what I was asking and actually had the detailed answers! Try that with your cable company!

I try to be grateful for something -- even little things -- every day. And today, I'm grateful that gators are easier to outrun than dogs.
You can say that again...check this out. A Pitbull bite has 300 pounds pressure per square inch: A Crocodile bite has 3700 lbs per square inch! For reference a human bite can be 160 lbs per square inch.

here is a track grinder.
Would have had no idea what it was, but what a piece of equipment! Looks to be self-propelled -- not only along the rails, but apparently also on the road from one grinding job to the next. Which makes perfect sense for such a specialized capital outlay.

Fun to image it belonging to Ralph's Rail Grinding. And I'm Ralph. What a living that would be!

the warning about grinding and stuff flying gave it away. but yep it will go on the road or tracks,
ail grinding is a process that is done to stop the deformation due to use and friction on railroad tracks by removing deformations and corrosion. Railroad tracks that experience continual use are more likely to experience corrugation and overall wear.

Yikes! A 30-pound dog lit into my leg last August. (A dog I knew, totally out of the blue, not bike-related.) The punctures, deep ragged scrapes, and expanding hematoma were there before I even knew what was happening.

If that's what a 30-pound dog can do, I want no part of gators. (Though they might want parts of me.)

We happily and lovingly share our homes and lives and even children with marginally controllable quadupeds capable of taking us apart anytime they like.

I find that quite remarkable. And totally worth the amazingly small risk.

My nephew had a Pitbull that chewed on the face of their toddler. It was not pretty. A Rottweiler locked onto my thigh when I rode past. It was very painful for weeks. I have had a few dogs but I would no longer keep a dog with a large jaw and I do very much appreciate it when I encounter people who have put muzzles on their large-jawed dogs when out in public.

Yes, dogs carry some risk. But considering all the dogs out there, it's amazingly small. Having an ebike battery in your house is probably riskier.

Not sure what to think about pit bulls. Lots of conflicting info, so safer to avoid them. Ditto for dogs bred as attack dogs.

It has its own chopper....must be nice to be an Oligarch View attachment 146049
Room enough to accommodate 28 guests and a crew of 21. I would say the owner or anyone chartering this floating palace definitely has deep pockets.

WOW ! It carries 600,000 litres of fuel but its only the 75th largest yacht in the world. Deep pockets required...imagine the fuel bill for numero uno. The chopper is handy for escaping from pirates.
