Thankfully the forecast was right and there was no ice, I had a very enjoyable 60 mile trip despite the biting cold northerly wind! I'm now at 219 miles for the year which I'm very happy with, I wasn't expecting so many miles in January, hopefully the snow and ice will stay away for February also...tempting fate there ;)

What a scenic ride and so far north in the dead of winter. Who knew Scottish winters could be so mild. We are at 49 degrees north latitude here and having a mild winter as well. I'm getting lots of miles in too just like the BC biking machine @steve mercier . This is the time of year the dedicated die-hards emerge...if we get lucky with the weather.

On the Chehalis Western Trail outside of Olympia Washington on my way home from the California dream trip.

55 degrees north latitude here and we sure have been lucky so far this winter:D Last January my total was 22 miles, quite a difference ;) I'm sure it won't last but I'm enjyoing it as much as I can while I can :D

For sure :D @JayVee

I’d love to go e-biking in your part of the world. Do you think it’s possible to rent an e-bike suitable for touring in e. g. Glasgow or Edinburgh?

I'm sure there are many in Glasgow and Edinburgh given their size, I did a quick search and found this site! https://electricbikereport.com/electric-bike-scotland-rentals-hire/

If only you could hire some sun at the same time :p you might be lucky though as we had a really good summer last year :)

Very comprehensive info from the linked website.
Thanks, I’ll do some research on my own but thanks for your link.
Many years ago I visited Wales and Ireland by car for about three weeks. Don’t remember seeing the sun?

Sounds familiar :p good luck with your research :)

Really good pictures RabH. The weather looked fine but, cold. Congratulations on your milage - good riding. Can you tell me. Is your bike 250w or more?

the road to Widgeon slough is so tucked into the mountains that the Strava GPS only credited us with 11 of the 27 km

Note the oversize elbow pads, too... I'm too old and fragile to be riding on icy, hilly rockface without major joint protection! Knock wood that I didn't crash on this ride.

The bike is 2017 Haibike Sduro HardNine 4.0 with Schwalbe Ice Spikers - not a great offroad bike, but still fun on ice with studs.

Ride on!!!

So, if you take an ebike on a chairlift...does that make you a cheater?

Thredbo mtb park ( you can see the chairlift in the background of the second shot)
