Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Another nice but very blustery day, that cold easterly wind is persisting but the blue skies sure make up for that! Just over 37 miles of fun today and the rest of the week is looking very promising so hopefully more rides to come! I noticed there were a lot of motorbikes on the roads today, being a motorcyclist myself I would love to get out there and enjoy this sunny weather but my conscience wouldn't let me take that chance in the current CV19 climate! I did see one motorcyclist pulled over by 2 police motorcyclists, I'm not sure if he had been speeding or if they were questioning him about his use of the bike as it was in the middle of nowhere...

I have been out riding several times last weeks but no longer rides and haven’t really found much worth showing you.
Anyway here is a photo from a ride around town abour 10 days ago.

Last Sunday was nice. It was very windy but for a change the winds were not freezing cold. Did my longest ride since October. 46-48km.

Pictures taken at turn turnaround point. The wind knocked my bike over just when I was taking picture of the sea.

A perfect Sunday. Seems as if everyone was out enjoying the sunshine and pretty scenery.

Lots of cyclists (I probably counted well over 40!) but this lady was the only one wearing a mask while she rode. She took it off when she stopped to talk. The rider number on the husband's handlebar bag was from a year ago, he said. Guess he just wanted to remember the good old days when group bike rides were "a thing".

Lots and lots of motorcyclists were out, too. This snapshot (taken at the same spot as the above photo) only caught the tail end of the group which was about 12 strong! They all waved hello, too!

Took a couple portraits of my newest ebike. Like this one in front of a lineup of redbuds the best.

Absolute best shot of the day. I did a double-take as I passed by this house and had to spin my bike around and head back just to make sure that what I saw was what I saw. It was.

Yet another sunny day, it just doesn't seem like Scotland ;) I can't remember a dry spell like this at this time of year ever! I'm not complaining though, no need to clean my bike once again:p 36 enjoyable miles this morning, still no end to the strong easterly wind but its no problem for this awesome e bike:D I made sure I got my ride in this morning because the wind is going to pick up soon and tomorrow is going to be a repeat of today, I might just have a rest day! (maybe not ;))

Lots of cyclists out today and all very friendly except one who looked like he was having a bad day and totally ignored my wave and that was with a lovely 20mph tailwind, I'm glad I didn't meet him in the other direction:p My 2020 total is now 1,485 miles from 34 rides which gives me an average distance of 43.67 miles!

Oh, no... Why to wear the face mask at all, then...

Your impressions from riding the Vado, Flora?
It's a lovely, comfortable, Thoroughbred fast, breathtakingly silent ebike. I was very impressed with how it handled the rural paved roads, the bi-polar winds, and the indecisive topography. The torque in Turbo mode was powerfully fun and bordered on the edge of addictive. At times I felt the Vado wasn't matching the speed downhill of my LaFree, but then I would look at my gps and realize I was going as fast, perhaps faster than I initially thought. It had to be the more forward position the Vado puts the rider in vs. the more upright LaFree that made me more aero. Hitting those speeds above 20mph with the assist still assisting was beyond satisfying. It was heaven.

I also found, midway through the ride as I continually got off and on to take photos, that it was far easier for me to throw a leg over than to try to step through. It felt more natural, and I was delighted that I could do so very easily and very fluidly without my hips complaining at all - which is a problem with my road bike which is one of the reasons I no longer ride it.

The chain, happily, was as silent as the LaFree's carbon belt drive .... except for when the bike was coasting, but that's to be expected of chain gearing and I knew that already so I just tuned the sound out of my mind. The gears worked flawlessly and silently, and I really appreciated the higher gears when cruising along. The difference between having 10 gears vs. 8 gears is like day and night.

All in all the Vado is one very very sweet bike!

I did, however, uncover one issue that is mine, not the bike's - the more forward stance of the handlebar put a bit more pressure on my hands than I liked, and brought back a touch of carpal tunnel. I had to sit upright several times towards the end of the ride and release all but the tips of my fingers on the grips to get the pressure backed off. Had the same issue initially with the LaFree until the handlebars were adjusted almost fully upright to where my hands simply rest, but don't press. Because the carpal tunnel doesn't appear at all when I ride the LaFree, I had forgotten about it when I first tried out the Vado a month ago. It didn't show up on the Vado until about 20 miles into the ride. Not sure what I'm going to be able to do about it since the Vado's stem which is permanently cranked forward and can't be adjusted. I'll talk to the bike shop and see what they can recommend.

In the meantime I'll just remember to take a B50 or B100 which will stop the carpel tunnel completely from reappearing for the duration of any rides on the Vado until I can do something about the forward stance.

The ride did convince me that it's about time to delimit the LaFree from Class 1 to Class 3. I've had the Badass unit sitting around for a few months waiting to be installed.

What model is the Garmin GPS on the Vado?
Edit.
I think I figured it out. Edge 810.
Yes, it's an Edge 810. Purchased off eBay from a young 20something who used to ride mountain bikes competively until his body basically quit from one too many crashes and burns.

It's a nice little unit that does a great job, is very reliable, and I use it on every bike I ride. Data is downloaded once a month to my laptop. I have since started using my phone's biking apps for my rides as well, but I trust the Garmin overall because it isn't tied to anything other than the GPS satellites.

I do keep it plugged into a 22,000mAh uber-thin battery power pack (that is carried in a custom made leather pouch on the front stem of my bikes) since the unit's battery is getting old and less willing to hold a charge for more than a few hours. The power pack ensures both my phone and the Garmin are at 100% for every ride no matter how long I ride.

Amother vote for Ergon style grips. You can set them up to give you sort of a flat plane to rest your hands on. Before I got my drop bar bike I had them on the last two, and they were great.

You can also find some handlebars that might be swept back a bit as well. There are lots of options out there, certainly.

Nice bike!
