Given how many people are using dongles, it is just a matter of time before Bosch and their competitors add a GPS chip to controller.

Bosch has the GPS inside the Nyon since end of 2014. You record all your trips and all the data is stored on the Bosch server.
I sold so many tuning kits in the past and no one ever had any problem in case of a warranty issue.
Bosch just replaces the motor (most common thing is the broken bearing on the right side after riding a lot in the mud) and that is it.
