Protect it well. However it’s not the most fragile part. I’ve dropped it a number of times.
Other Yamaha problems to foresee:
- The hinge for the little rubber cover on the battery tends to rip quite easily. My workaround: fixed with heavy duty tape.
- The remote on the handlebar is very fragile. Mine cracked at the place where the screw housing is located due to repeated cold/hot cycles and a lot of use. It costs around 100 Euros to replace. Take very good care of it.
- The battery status button cannot be depressed continuously after a while. Thus, you cannot determine the absolute battery capacity and number of cycles. My workaround: use a pencil.
- The charger’s round connector that plugs into the battery will split where the two plastic tubes of different diameter join together. It just happened to me today. Workaround: heavy duty tape.
