radwagon front chain ring upgrade!

after 1500 miles on my wagon its time for maintence / upgrades one of which is new 11-28 rear free wheel as i never use the 34t anyway , im also wanting to upgrade to a 52t on the front chainring as to not run out of pedal at 20mph / more top end speed ! the search for chainrings is vast & confuseing as to what fits what etc , can somebody give me a good link as to purchase 52t ring gear that fits the radwagon , tip - as gained strength on the wagon i prided myself on being able to climb hills in top gear 11t it soon put unnessary stress on that gear & did some dammage & it will not hold that gear now - shift down to a lower gear to assist hard climbs !

I did it, 52t front chainring in addition to the 11-28 on the back just like you (though for radcity) but -- yeesh, it's been so long. There are many threads already posted here that have your answers, just search. The key is to get the ring in BCD104mm spacing (unless you are going to replace crankset too -- some here have). Beyond that I don't think much else matters; iI just bought what looked like a good price on ebay.

Though FYI, for me on Radcity I found the chainring teeth a little too close to the frame for my liking, so I flipped the chainring I got so the guard it came with went on the inside instead of the outside, then bought a seperate, second aluminum Driveline chainguard to form a "guiding" chainring (guards on both sides) like the ring the Radcity shipped with. Flipping pushes the ring out from the bike maybe a quarter inch (which was the point, to get more space from the frame tube), but it doesn't seem to really impact anything.

thanks for the info , i did searches , but not as to vendor source , best cheap deal , what does bcd mean on the spaceing ? im asuming the distance between holes ?

also when i look up bcd 104 chainrings they mention narrow / wide teeth on sprockets , is this compatable to the rear freewheel / does it use the same chain that fits the narrow teeth on the freewheel ? thanks for your help sir !

does anyone have a direct vendor link to 104 bcd 52t 5 hole chainring , yes ive done the google search but come up with lots of other commbinations 4 hole , not enough teeth etc ?

Are you sure you need 104BCD with a 5 bolt pattern? I think you should measure the BCD again, does not sound right for 5 bolt pattern.

finally the solution! this makes our radwagon chainring a - 130mm b.c.d. 52t [tooth] fits a 1/2 inch x 11/32 chain - ta da !
