Pinion Motor.Gearbox.Unit (MGU)

Sounds like the main issue is the ridiculous EU 15mph ( 25kmh) restriction 🤣
If they were only allowed to play as adults 🙃

It does not sound right that it would block the pedals when reaching the limit of assist.
I would suggest contacting the vendor and or pinion and press the issue with them, to figure out what is wrong with your bike, rather than assuming it is normal...

Not sure, sounded like he meant it limited the speed of the pedal when it got to the speed limit

I rented a Bianchi eMTB in Lake Como Italy a few years back. I felt that restriction resitance once I went over 15mph while riding on the main roads. Very irritating.

Must suck to live there.... Though it is my favorite place to visit.

If I lived in Europe, I would tollally have 1,500 Watt ebike, somehow.
I'd defintely be an Outlaw, and no doubt suffer the fate of an Outlaw. But I would do it. Certainly in a rural mountain setting.

In Lake Como I was with my Brother in Law. He broke his collar bone and smashed his knees walking his ebike about 500 ft from the top of Mt St. Primo. Walking his bike!

Intradrive, another potential MGU manufacturer launched a prototype at Eurobike a couple of years ago and I hadn't heard anymore since but it looks like they have been busy. The fact the motor uses the same frame bolts as the Shimano EP8 raises interesting ideas about longevity of frames after warranty period. Plus they are intending the motor gearbox to be easily repairable. These are sound & positive approaches, early days but I hope they gain a foothold and I'm interested to see what brands they are working with.

It is an L1e-B, a 45 km/h Speed Pedelec. Interesting!
How good I already own a Vado 6.0 :)

2 new MGU bikes from Moustache (CLUTCH emtb) & Haibikes (ALLMTN CF 10 Pinion E1.12 MGU) Bit of confusion about the Haibike, it's appearing in bike shop adverts and mentioned in forums but there is little official info so I'm not even sure if it is officially launched yet:

Bit more detail here of the range of Moustache CLUTCH models including a mudguard, rack & lights trekking version:

The haibike AllMtn CF TRN/IQ with Pinion MGU is finally officially released. First started seeing mentions in forums back in Jan & pictures from online bike shops in Poland & U.K. but with no ordering details/release info strangely, but nothing at all on the Haibike website. So here it finally is with a full carbon frame manufactured in Portugal keeping the weight down to under 25kg with 800wh battery.

Interesting in this tariff mad world, that from what I can see most components on that Haibike are made in Europe or US.

Nothing from China other than the dropper which is also HQ in Germany so might be made there.

Don't know if that is deliberate due to current situation, or just Haibike's usual business method but it shows it can be done and at a competitive price.

Though I don't know if Magura and the rest actually manufacture the parts in a factory in Germany or just HQ office there **Actually just looked them up yes Magura brakes are made in Germany, DT Swiss wheels are built in either Poland or Taiwan. Continental make tyres mainly in Germany, China or India.

Interesting.

Carbon Frame - Portugal
Forks & rear shock - Colorado (Rockshox)
Wheels - Switzerland (DT Swiss)
Tyres - Germany (Continental)
Brakes - Germany (Magura)
Motor & Battery - Germany (Pinion)
Belt - Colorado (Gates)
Pedals, grips - Germany (XLC)
Saddle - Italy (Sella Italia)
Dropper - Taiwan & Germany (Limotec)
Handlebar & stem - Germany (Haibike in house)

Check deeper :)

I think people need to realize there is a difference between mainland China and Taiwan.
High tariffs have been put on Taiwan Republic of China as well. 43%?
P.S. I don't think the batteries or electronics for Pinion MGU are made in Germany.

Well forgive me for being confused because what the tariffs actually are seem to be changing every day.

I thought Taiwan was back to ten percent.

Also, Taiwan is now mostly a high-tech manufacturer and not a mass producer of low-cost consumer goods where automated production is difficult and low-skill workers can mostly do the job.

My both premium e-bikes were manufactured in Taiwan. Also, components such as brakes etc etc.
Cannot fail noticing components such as batteries or electronics are mostly made in mainland China though.
