Has anyone had any luck, good or otherwise, partly filling your geared hub motors with automatic trani fluid ( ATF)?
Interested to find out what the cooling results were, as well as what type and how much ATF was used, any leaking issues etc?
YASA was founded to commercialise an innovative new approach to the design of electric motors. YASA’s axial-flux design has efficiency at its core, and an innovation roadmap to even greater efficiencies.

"Direct Oil Cooling
In addition, our direct oil cooling solution helps YASA motors achieve higher continuous power. A 200kW peak-power radial motor, run continuously, might typically give 50% of peak power between 80 and 100kW, as a result of thermal limitations. In contrast, a 200kW YASA motor runs continuously at 150kW thanks to the improved high-thermal-contact cooling oil offers. Consumers are demanding more performance from their Electric Vehicles (EVs). OEMs with EVs that offer a higher continuous rating, particularly in the premium vehicle segments and in highway drive cycles, have a significant market advantage. "
Oil cooled direct drives are old news. Further, the topic says "geared hub"? Maybe you should start a new one?
If your goal is to go 40mph, an oil filled direct drive is probably a good plan. No debating that here. Talking about a 30 amp controller though, indicates you might want to do a little more research on that piece of your project. If you're desinging it to go more than 20' anyway.....
An oil filled hub on 30a controller is overkill on the motor side, or underkill on the controller side, depending on how you're looking at it....
