Newbie trying to build

Hello my name is Breandan from Melbourne, FL. I'm trying to convert my bike to an ebike however I'm having issues and would very much appreciate any type of insight or advice. I bought a yescom 48v conv kit and a btrpower 48v battery separately. After assembling and before actually securing the components I tested. There was an initial pulse of power to the motor and the nothing. During trouble shooting I learned that my 48v battery has an output of 58.5v, which I also learned would indicate a 52v battery. Fearing that I zapped the controller I returned the kit but Amazon won't allow me to return the battery so I'm stuck w it. Could anybody please recommend a conversion kit that would be compatible?
Thanks guys

People do overvolt those cheap direct drive kits, so I would be surprised that one would blow up in a casual test. A controller rated for 48V should have components rated for 63V or more. I can run my 36/48V dual voltage controllers on 52V packs w/o concern.

You can buy a kit from Lunacycle.com. They'll tell you which kits will take 52V, probably most of them. Won't be a low cost Voilamart though. Luna isn't known for support. I've bought three batteries from them, and one mid drive kit. All four have worked fine.

No problem. Every one of my 52V batteries work fine on all my 48v motors. BBSxx, MAC, MXUS, BAFANG HUB. As Harry pointed out, most 48v controllers can overvolt and have at least 60V limits. Luna is not a good source for hub drives. None of the eBikekit copies they sold for several years are supported. No repair parts. Look to Golden Motor for a nice kit with controller in the hub. Very nice setup. MAC Motors is another good choice.
