Need emtb, Focus no good

I asked for a mtb, was sold a Focus Jafera 29. The tires I can replace but weak wheel & fork make this an expensive mistake. Liked the way it rides but too unsafe. Not sure if I can get my $ back but if I can, what bike is recommended?

I like hard tails but seems they hang junk on them, not expecting you to actually go MTB’ing. Guess I have to go full suspension. Anyone else have this problem? Focus seemed like a quality brand, a specialist in MTB’s. Sad

Did you Research this bike Before you bought it, or is that just what they happened to suggest ? Hopefully they didn't sting you too bad. ?

$2,500+. I researched Focus & CX motor, trusted Focus & shop to make sure everything else was up to snuff & safe for an Emtb. I no longer trust Focus. Making a bike that can’t be “ridden hard” shows they have lost their original focus which was great hard ridding MTB’s!
Pix is from fork. Same equip as Walmart uses.

Maybe try communicating your dissatisfaction to the shop, and negotiate a different fork or a Workaround ? Your bike is Still under warranty Correct ?

Nothing that a good fork cannot fix. Maybe you can just upgrade the one you have. I don't think another $2500 model will have the kind of forks you want.

I agree but will they work c me on this? I asked Focus, got a political reply, ie meaningless words, no action. I refuse to pay shop for something they let get by. Sadly I no longer trust them or the folks @ Focus. Is the frame junk too? Any other safety concerns I don’t know about yet?

I’ll replace mediocre tires but just how bad are the wheels? A 29” wheel means increased lateral stress and may not be safe on 50lb E-Bike.

I read Court's review. He says "The Jarifa I29 Pro is a hardtail cross country style mountain bike with 29 inch wheels for smooth fast performance on trails. "

I don't know why Focus owes you anything. Maybe you can get the shop to discount the labor and margin on the kind of fork you want.

It is not that the bike is "bad," the problem is either the shop undersold you, or you were expecting too much. $2500 may seem like a lot of money, but in e-bike terms it is low-end, especially for a LBS-brand.

I asked for a real MTB & specified that it must take repeated hits from 5” curbs at full speed too! It was never about $!
Here is the discussion c Focus:
Hello Paul,
for sure this bike is not made for hard riding like in bike parks.
For sure you can take the bike into a bike park, but everything on your personal risk, that´s in general - also for our full suspension bikes. But you cannot expect a high end eBike for approx. 2000 bugs - when you look for an eBike which you can take to a bike part I would recommend you a Jam² or Sam² but these start from approx. 4000 $

As I mentioned, so far we did not make any bad exerperiance with the bike but I think non of our customer has taken it to a bike park - because it´s not the right bike for it. Further you will find all specification details at our website, so you could inform you about the spec of any bike before you buy it.

Sorry if you´re not happy with the bike you have bought, but probably it´s not the correct one for your riding stlye.

Best regards,
Wilko

Here is what the shock says:

So no “hard riding”!
On a bike with Bosh CX motor & a MTB frame from Focus. Didn’t Focus get its start making great MTB’s? If your bikes (costing >$2,000) can’t be ridden hard than you have lost your focus.

Tires, pedals, seat... these I expect to replace (the Continentals are proven to flats, dangerous on an E-Bike) but the wheel sets are 2 star & the fork is used on Walmart bikes. Is the frame also not for hard riding?

I’m 98kg, add bike, lock & H20- just sitting on it is hard use, never mind that in Cruse at max speed over rocks, 5in curbs and tree roots.

Do you feel hard tail bike riders don’t ride hard? I took my Ghost HT down Whistler (in Canada) saw lots of full suspension bikes busted in half! I wanted to take the Focus. So what do I do with my new bike, use it for decoration?

Hello Paul,
thanks for your request and feedback!
Unfortunately I cannot provide you any specific information on it, because I don´t know which "Jarifa" you bought. In general you could check for the specs before you buy a bike.

If there is any damage to the Fork or the tires, please claim this to the manufacturer of the damaged components.

Also we did not make any bad experiance so far with the mentioned components at all. The components we assemble to our bikes, are checked by our quality control and fulfilled all the requirements by law and ours (which are higher then the ones given by law).

Best regards,
Wilko

How can we help?
I purchased your Jafera hardtail c CX motor. Looked good, frame seemed nice too. After looking it over I noticed the tires are junk & the forks belong on a Walmart bike! I’ll be fixing these items but your bike is a failure. You used your good reputation to make money selling a substandard bike. Any comments before I post my review?

My other question is- What other dangerous, low quality items did you speck out on this $2,000+ Ebike?
