My Tire's Are Rotting !!??@$

One thing that I forgot to do before replacing the old tire was to lock up my rear wheel from full speed on the asphalt and lay the Biggest Patch EVER !!

I could practice drifting around corners.
I used to do it on my mountain bike, but I didn't want to skid on my fancy expensive Super Moto-X tires.

I'd even sacrifice an innertube to the adventure when I wear right through the threads. 😁

First thing I thought when I saw the pics was maybe over inflation? My tires are always just under the max recommendation, but that's just what I like to do.
It is a miniature Los Angles basin in the '70's producing ozone, 03, that oxidizes rubber. There is the smoke and volatile organic compounds in the air along with the ultraviolet grow light.

Unless you do them yourself.
A biggie is changing fluids and filters at an accelerated rate. Like setting it up so you suck in and expel power steering fluid by moving the wheel for six seconds. I loved my turbo boost pressure adaptor. It took it from 9 to 16 psi. To do the timing belt I suspended the engine from a beam in the garage to get it over and around the motor mount at TDC held by a wooden jig. At the time I was mostly driving the Coast Highway.

They have autobahns in Germany but eBikes are limited to 15.3 mph?

I had a subscription to Stereo Review in the early and mid 80's.
They reviewed a set of speakers that used a modulated spark arcing as the tweeter in the speaker.

The speakers needed to use argon gas when they were operated to prevent the spark from giving off O³

The used to use electro static air cleaners that worked very well, but dust would arc across the plates and make ozone.

I miss the good Ole days when ozone was plentiful.

I think I'm gunna buy me one of these to up my daily dose of ozone.
It's only 80 grams of O³ per hour though. Not like in the 70's

I'm going to use it to cure my halitosis with daily deep breathing exercises.😁

Too much pressure stretching the carcass? I noticed on my wired warrior airing it up to 30 psi the tire just kept getting bigger and bigger. I have a predator now and aired the tires up to 18 psi and they didn't get near as big. Some people are complaining about tire to fender clearance and I think that is what is happening. Like a race car tire, if you don't like the circumference, over pressurize it and set it out in the sun.

Too much pressure stretching the carcass?

I'm just guessing??

I had assumed that a lower pressure (25 PSI vs. 42 PSI in my case) would have the tire flexing more between the lugs causing the inner casing to show through earlier.

But it was the over pressure that made the inner casing show through earlier.

The tread has almost no wear ??

I agree.. If you stayed within the pressure limits it shouldn't split like that before the tread wears.
That said I don't think you need max pressure to have max efficiency either. I find that middle of the range is a good place to start and often where I stay.
edit: I'll add I ride a lot of mixed terrain often during the same ride so that's another reason middle of the range works for me.

Is the date code on the sidewall in your first group of pictures 2024? If so they aren’t old.

I hadn't removed the old tire yet, and the first pictures were of the new tire that is now on the bike.

The old tire has this date code,..

Oops,..
I got the date code mixed up with the serial number.

So I guess my tire was made in January 2024.

I bought the tires on March 11th 2024

I concur...
I doubt very much that the date would be molded in.. and more than likely it's one of the printed on numbers

On car and truck tires the date is molded in but you have to know how to read it. It sounds like the 2024 isn’t the date they were made.
I'd of thought that would be cost prohibitive or at least the more expensive option.
Quick Google says it was implemented in 2000 and looks to be a changeable plate of the mold showing 2 digit week and 2 digit year.

@PCeBiker.... Since your tires are moped rated, they might have a similar DOT code on them.
Not sure if required on a "bicycle" tire
