not sure whats up with my garmin 1030+ but it will pause and start in the middle of a ride start before I start. this morning before I even moved the bike I averaged 35mph. I have a speed sensor so it seems to be ignoring that. I think I hit 62mph. most of the ride I averaged 42 mph. I just reset it so we will see. everything else seems on the direction and altitude and such. the map is right but the distance should have been 8,2 miles but it came out to 17 miles. looks like it was only off for part of the ride.

Take the thing off you Harley and put it back on your e bike. Mine gave me a top speed of 62 mph the other day, that didn’t happen unless I fell off a cliff and forgot about it. Just a glitch.

Im a retired land surveyor and have a good understanding of how gps works. Unless you have it out in the open with clear sky’s all sorts of accuracy problems can occur.

It has a a crack from dropping and I think water got into it. it has the speed sensor that would take over if it could nto get a signal. but that route I do every day so think it needs replaced.

The more I read about GPS the less I need it. I do need a compass on some rainy or foggy days. A good paper map doesn't need batteries and a plastic case keeps out rain.
I was the guy in 701st Mt battalion that they sent out to find lost vehicles after the sargeant couldn't find one. As I was getting out they bought the replacement 2 new diesel Blazers to drive around. One in Kansas, one in storage in Germany. Added to TO&E.

who wants to read a map that means you got to stop to look. I find places on google maps to ride to and make a route to it. I find all kinds of oil places. IStore all the rides so I can pick and choose by how the wife and I am feeling that day.

Bike GPS computer includes a compass. Digital maps are pre-loaded (and up to date) there, so I see no benefit from using paper maps and physical compasses.
The e-bikes that can connect to either Garmin or Wahoo send their wheel RPM to the bike GPS computer and -- knowing the Wheel Circumference -- calculate the distance ridden and speed. Still I can observe some glitch with reporting the Max Speed by Wahoo to Strava at times. (It might be related to brief Motor Error messages I happen to get on my Vado SL. No issues with the big Vado).
