It looks like this pre-order may have sold out; all you can do now is give them your email address "to be notified" when the item becomes available again.
A high-performance sports car can go from 0 to 100 mph in 7.2 s. It does not mean you are going to have your foot on the floor all the time. I ordered a X-1 with the 2000 watt option. On the trail It will be dialed back to maybe 500 watts. I don't see the need for all that power on the trails, but if i use it around town. 2000 watts may come in handy.
Have you noticed Luna's trend?
They had so many custom battery shapes over a year ago and finding a replacement now would be a major PIA.
Their Fusion line of bikes had some fancy batteries: https://lunacycle.com/luna-fusion-fat-ebike-khs-3000/
They work well until something goes wrong. It is specific to one bike. They have switched to Wolf packs which is good because then you can swap the batteries onto different bikes.
The bike looks cool but finding a replacement battery 2yrs down the line would be something customers have to think about.
Bafang M600 motor still uses the Nylon gears and 2 months they put out a video explaining why it is not a good idea but since then they have taken down the video.
Other than that, looks like a nice bike with decent components. They are taking pre-orders and delivery is slated for late July or August.
Obviously, I can’t speak for Luna. However, they have 3D printers, cnc routers, and a sonic spot welder that they use in producing their latest batteries. There is no reason that they couldn’t use this equipment to manufacture a replacement pack for this bike if they see fit.
I will absolutely discuss this with them if I buy the bike next year.
Please do check with them. I am curious to know why their transitioned from "Fusion" batteries to wolf pack.
Repairing a fully potted battery takes a fair amount of work and there is a reason why they are not making those fusion batteries anymore.
Luna says that their construction process means that bad cells are isolated and the rest of the pack continues functioning. They claim the potting is water proof and has thermal characteristics that helps to control cell heat.
yes, electricbike.com Is Luna's site entirely. Is this forum run by Luna?
In the business world or in any sphere of life. It is best to focus on people's actions rather than words. People say a lot of things but actions shows much more than that...
EM3ev, Empowered cycles, Bafang USA and more offer better warranties and if you take orders from the various resellers online and take them through to shipping charges the bottom line is not very different. AND you get a warranty.Luna offers very low prices for an item without a warranty
